Possible to use HPI Reverse Module

Is it possible to attach a HPI Reverse Module Savage 21/25 onto a prop shaft to make a nitro boat reverse capable? From what I understand, which is not much since I’m new to rc nitro boats, this reverse module is used with a similar sized rc nitro car engine.

Well, on the savage the reverse module actually goes into the transmission and has its own shaft in there that goes through the gears.

On a boat i see that being a bigger problem because i dont see anyway that you could easily use that in the flex shaft. And i think that owuld just put added wear on the flex shaft, especially if not always lubricated properly.

Just me, but i dont know anything, im new also.

The only boats that have reverse are toy boats for little kids to play with in the swimming pool, even full size race boats do not have reverse, it is used for docking large boats.

No need for a nitro boat to go in reverse. If you want to back up with a boat, do as suggested above and get a pool toy RC, or other electric with reverse capable ESC.

Another problem with reverse in a nitro boat is the fact that there is no clutch so you would have to from forward to reverse at an idle which would probably chew up any gears you had in the transmission.

another thing to consider regardless if your going to Nitro or Gas, the Majority of flex shaft are left hand lay, changing the rotation of the engine can damage or cause premature breakage of your flex shaft.
