Throttle Servo Setup

How do I set up the throttle on my K&B outboard? I am using a JR XS3 radio. Currently, it is at about half throttle at the normal throttle setting and when I pull the stick back, it goes to an idle.

Is there a way to get my throttle to be the same at center stick and brake positions?

OK, here's how I used to set up my throttles on my OB tunnels.
Turn both radio systems on. Hold the throttle wide open and while doing that, shut off the receiver. You can shut off the transmitter if you wish then. Next set up your linkage so that the barb is wide open then tighten everything down. Turn the TX (if you shut it off) and the RX back on. Hopefully now the throttle servo will go back to the idle position.
Before doing all of this, make sure all trim adjustments are at zero.
If it goes too far in either direction then adjust your end point adjustments.
You mentioned "stick". I know that you meant trigger. I've got an old JR XR-3 that I'm still using.

I think the part he is more concerned about is the fact that it is at 50% throttle at center, and idle at the brake position; while he would rather have it idle at center and at brake position. Programming the TX end points or throttle curve could probably do that, but i don't know anything about the programming of that TX.

Right.

Maybe I should use a car/buggy linkage and set it up the way these are with the servo saver springs. I could get a servo arm to give me full throttle at full back trigger and idle at 50%. I can dial it in with the endpoints.

Is there a way I could do this with just the brake settings and not worry about the spring?

When doing this, do I need to be careful not to use the brake to overdrive the servo?

With end points you should be able to tell the servo that hitting brake or keeping it at center is the same thing. If you could adjust the throttle curve it would look like a slope that has a flat spot at the tail end. Sort of like this: \__
