shockwave 36 flex shaft question

Hello, I have read throgh the shockwave 36 threads but I'm not sure what the clutch dog is? It says to leave an 1/8" gap between the dog & cable. Can someone help me out with explaining this? I don't want to break the cable as this seems to be a common issue.

Thanks, Rich</p>

RE: shockwave 36 flex shaft question

clutch dog<< that would be a drive dog, if im thinking right the shockwave has a nylon washer between the "drive-dog" and the strut I would toss that if there is one there it is really not needed, put approximately 3/16 gap between the back of the strut and the drive dog, the flexshaft is a multi-strand cable when under a load will tighten up, when it tightens it gets shorter and that brings the drive dog closer to the strut. Basically if you dont have the gap things are gonna get torn up..
