Your opinions wanted - ARF pilots
This question is for the ARF pilots that like to spend their time flying and not building...
Is there a kit you would like to see as an ARF? Trainers, sport planes, war-birds, and everything in-between.
What kit(s) would it be?
All answers greatly appreciated,
James

RE: Your opinions wanted - ARF pilots
Please no P51 or Cub.
My vote is for Yak 3 up to 9 even, MIG fighters, Typhoon, Tempest, Japanese fighters not named Zero.
Sopwith Tripe instead of the DRi. A good .40 sized bipe would be fun too, WACO maybe.
Basically what I'm saying is when you look around and see that every other company makes one, pick something different.

I would like a .40/.46 size model of a Fiesler storch FI 156 W flaps-flaperons . the real plane was reputed
to be capable of a takeoff with NO ground run in a light breeze . I want to see a Harrier- UP.

Yeah, I'd like to see more ARC's too. Nice not to have to build the whole plane sometimes, but it would give you the option of not having a plane that looked like everybody else's.
I think the mfg's do that on purpose, so their ARF is recognizable as what it is and whose brand; everybody that sees it and likes it knows where to go and buy one like it. If it has a custom cover, it's harder to know if it's a kit, ARF, or scratch.
I don't know about kits I'd like to see ARF'd, but I can think of a lot of ARF's that I'd like to see as a kit.

I would like to see fairly accurate ARF renditions of the Great Planes Trainer 40 and 60. Change the rudder shape a bit and have at it. <G>

RE: Your opinions wanted - ARF pilots
Hi guys,
I would love to see these around in a size that would give more detail (90-120), as there are some of these around but don't really look right.
Messerschmitt Bf 109
Junkers Ju-87
Dornier Do-335
Any of the Yaks, Migs
Am getting tires of the thousands of mustangs, spitfires, P47's out there, there were other fighters around as well.
Tony.
p.s. Can Great planes go back to an ARF Patriot please??

My vote is for the old SIG stuff why has Sig not arf'ed planes like the Astro Hog, kavalier and the kougar/Kobra series? I think people would line up to buy them. I know Sig has said before that this is not going to happen but maybe there is some chance Since Goldberg recently ARF'ed some of their old kits.
and GP should bring back the Ultrasport and Mustang 40 arfs

Heinkle HE 100 D-1
P-63 King Cobra.
AND A P-51 WITH ACTUAL LINES LIKE A P-51, ESPECIALLY ADJOINING THE TAILFEATHERS.
A realistic FW 190 - D 12 or 13.
I also second the ARC line.

RE: Your opinions wanted - ARF pilots
I'm building a Sig Bonanza. It dawned on me that I have never seen a Bonanza ARF. Come on folks. Imagine a design that has been around for nearly 60 years. They are still beautiful airplanes. These planes were going 200 mph back when the airlines were flying pistons............and there wasn't an interstate highway system. What a great plane ! Bonanzas are older than B52's for crying out loud. If this planes isn't an icon of American aviation, then I don't know what is ! And they are beautiful ! Hey ARF compaines, are you listening ?
I can also see a giant ARF Tripacer or Champ.
How about a Commanche or a Twin Commanche, Seneca, or Baron?
A Commander, Aerostar , Swift , Viking, Navajo
How about an ARF DC-4, Convair, YS-11, King Air, Cheyene, or a Merlin ?
A great big fat fiberglass Cherokee with pants ?
Orion, Meteor, Vega, or Gamma ?

I want to second the motion on the Sig ARF's
Sig has a very strong following even still today. But without more Arf's coming on line at a fastrer pace, their market share will decline.
Of the ARF's I've had that there were also kits available, the ARF was never engineered like the kit. Which is OK I guess but in the case of Sig. A resonable Hog with the exact outline would be nice. The Kavalier is a nice kit too.
Enjuoy,
Jim

IMO, one of the most beautifull war birds, the Typhoon. Inhereantly difficult to ballance due to the long nose section, but absolutely georgous.

I hate building Sig kits, but I do enjoy flying them. Your selection is a good selection to see sold as ARF's and ARC's.
I would also like to see a Taurus ARF (Top Flite?). What a perfect model for a four-stroke engine.

I would like to see 'Unusual/different' planes in an ARF, especially/particularly in a 40 size plane. The few 'unusual/different' ARFs are in a 60 size and larger (usually larger).
By 'unusual/different' I am referring to infrequently modeled planes such as a Boeing P-26 (only in the 91 - 1.08 size available), Mr. Mulligan, Arado or FW-56 (parasol wing warbirds), Fairchild 24, 'Winnie Mae'. I think you get the general idea.
While there is a good market for the larger size planes, I feel there is also an excellent market for 40 size planes. Not everyone wants the larger planes.
