Default GP Big Stick - A Question

I mostly fly helis now and I've just found out that my remaining fixed wing (a Wot 4) has been chewed to death by mice whilst stored in my garage.

I'm looking for a fun replacement - want ARTF - don't want extreme 3D or funfly - want something that is just fun.

I am thinking of a GP Big Stick (40 size) - I also looked at the Hanger 9 Ultra Stik but in the UK, this is 65% more expensive than the Great Planes Big Stick.

I am wondering about the undercarriage though - I would prefer taildragger to tricycle.

Is it possible to build the model as a taildragger without significant rework. The aluminium undercarriage will have to be moved forward but I assume that the position where it would need to go is not strengthened. Would this be easy to do without damaging or having to replace the covering?

Nothing to it Nigel ! Just add(epoxy) another plywood landing gearplate foward of the original plate.. Position so that the wheel axel is in line with the leading edge of the wing.
You will have to harden the soft balsa beneath the new plate where the aluminum landing gear will be bolted on. Do this by puncturing the MonoKote repeatedly and soaking with CA.
Now the steerable tail wheel... with a new Stick ARF, just bend the wire 90deg, and stick it(epoxy) in the rudder Leading edge, stick the wire down thru the stab and bend the wire to accomodate the tail wheel. Clear as mud ? Maybe the pics of my Stick might help. No, my Stick is not a tail dragger, Just where the work needs to be done...
Give it a go Nigel !
