Default HNGR 9 ARF Cub or Great Planes .40 ARF

I'm going to purchase a Cub ARF looking for feedback on either kit, very similar looking for +/-'s. Also, it will .40 size, with a Saito .56.

I've never had a great planes aircraft..have had a few hangar 9's... hangar 9 makes a great product.covered in ultracote..they're well made but as with any ARF go over the airframe well and look for joints that aren't glued well..especially around the wing mounting blocks

Go with the Hangar 9. You won't be disappointed. I flew mine with a lowly Magnum 52 4C. Pulled it around just fine. Another one you might want to consider is the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHEM1&P=0]Goldberg Cub ARF[/link]Goldberg Cub Arf. I have the kit version and have used engines ranging from an OS 40 FP - Mag 70FS. You can't go wrong with the Goldberg or Hangar 9. I can't say much about the Great Planes Cub since I have no experience with it.

I have the GP Cub on the assembly bench. There are pros and cons. Overall, it is a well built plane and looks very good with the fabric covering. The covering itself is enough for me to recommend this one. I did not like the landing gear, so I ordered the gear for the now disontinued version of the H9 ARF - this is not the current H9 but the one they discontinued a while back. I have not flown this one (GP) yet, but I hear that the attachment points on the wing struts are subject to failure - I may change them. You may want to do a search here on RCU as there are some other threads on this if my memory serves me correct. I am sure the new Cub offerings I have seen lately by H9 and others may be very nice and perhaps more scale, but for the money, the GP Cub works for me.
Hope this helps.

Steve
