Help in ID'ing plane
 

Hi Guys - I have a friend who inherited this plane and was wondering if I could find out for him who makes it and what model it was. He say's it's 5' long and the WS is 68". It looks like it has an OS 4-stroke poking it's head out to me on the right side. Two bottles of glo fuel was also a hint ;)

Thanks for any help you can give me to help him out. If he decides to sell it what would you guys suggest as an asking price. He said when his Dad picked it up the previouse owner had flown it that day for the last time (I guess he is just getting out of the sport).

It looks OK from the pics but not knowing how long it's been sitting, if the engine was oiled-up, , batteries good, etc,etc...I'd say $200.00 for what's pictured.

Thanks guys, that pretty much sums up what it is :).

Anybody else with any guess's on worth?. According to the person who now has it, the owner flew it the day before he gave it to him, so last weekend I guess. I would also guess around $200 would be close other then needing to change out the Rx. Unless battery is dated I would also suggest changing it out. At least I've always felt better doing that on planes I've bought just for piece of mind.

200.00 would be rather lowball for that airplane. If Im not mistaken that is a YS 120 and it alone is worth close to the 2 bills

A YS engine would however narrow the scope of interest as YS invokes love em or hate em.

Depends on the region. Over here where I fly we love YS engines. True they are not as easy to set up as others and take special care but once you learn the care and feeding there is not a more powerful and reliable 4 stroke out there. Things I have learned about them, always use 100% synthetic fuel, OS F plug, set the regulator to flush with housing and for the most part leave it there and always let it run a little bit to build pressure in the tank before advancing the throttle.
