Engine for a 40 Cloud Dancer?

I smoked the .46 FX in my Cloud Dancer today.

If I can't fix it what would you recommend?

I have an OS FS-61 (non surpass)

or I could but a new motor.

G'day Mate,
Describe what you mean by 'smoked'!
What happened?

It got real tight and would hardly turn over..

after it cooled off it's loose again but it feels a little rough.

I'm going to tear it down and see if all it needs is new bearings

G"day Mate,
Sounds like bearings, & lean run.
Pretty easy fix really.
Just one point, if you can, use stainless bearings, you won't regret it.

My first choice for the Cloud Dancer would be Thunder Tiger Pro46.

Well it looks like the FX 40 will live to fly another day..

I got the engine used with the plane..
I should have torn it down before trying to go flying since I found the thing was fairly crusty inside from long storage.
The card had some crud in it too.. It's not suprising it didn't run right...

The FX had a trip through the crock pot now and oiled up with ATF..

It's much smoother now and has good compression. On the down side it has a little liner peal around the intake ports.. That sucks.

I was going to put a .45 FSR in it's place but I found out the FSR is 2oz lighter than the FX... something I didn't expect.
