2nd plane

Well I´m in the dilema of picking a second plane. By now I´ve been flying a trainer´, but Im getting bored of it. Well I had a O.S. Fx .61, and a 4 channel radio. I like building my own planes.
Well I have 2 questions:

1) Which one is a good second airplen, want a sport plane, beneath the ugly stick.
2) It has to be a high wing like the trainer ? been thinking of a bipe, a good idea or not?

If you do a forum search, you will find a lot of information on this subject. Planes like the Sig 4-star, Goldberg Tiger-2, Great Planes Rapture, and Hangar-9 Pulse XT get recommended a lot. Some other options are the World Models Skyraider Mach-2 and Phoenix Models Dolphin.

Your second plane doesn't have to be high wing wing. All of the ones I mentioned are low wing; a step above a trainer but below something like a Cap-232 or 3D plane. Don't even think about a bi-plane yet; they are interesting and fun but sometimes difficult unless you are more experienced.

Hope this helps.

I'd add the Sig Kougar if you like to build. Low wing, trike gear, fun to fly. Old school...

I'd recommend the Goldberg Tiger II, THEN get the biplane.

If you have an OS 61 then get the Goldberg Tiger 60

It's a low-wing plane, but it handles as easily as a high-wing trainer - but it's a LOT more fun!

The Goldberg Tiger 60 is available as either an ARF or a kit, I don't believe the plans are available seperately. You'd have to contact Lanier to find out.

Another kit that would be a wonderful match for your O.S. Max .61 Fx would be the BTE Venture. The designer of the original Sig Four Star later designed the Venture as sort of a "Four Star V2.0" with several improvements over the original:

You should be absolutely thrilled with either one of these fantastic designs.

Just to throw another wrench in the works...

This summer I will be reviewing Goldberg's Protege' ARF which is supposed to go from basic 60-size trainer to aerobatic performer. So there may be another good one to be looking at. :D

I second the Sig Kougar as well. It was my second plane and it is still is my favorite plane to fly 11 years later.

You can order the Tiger 60 plan sheets, general info booklet, and instruction booklet from Goldberg. Total price around $40 plus shipping:

The whole kit is $110 plus shipping

I do not know how difficult, or expensive, it is to get something shipped to your location.
