Search feature
Maybe this exists, and I just haven't found it... In the old RCU, I used to be able to ask "search" to return threads or posts ; it seems that the current RCU only ever returns threads. This is a frustrating problem if the post I am searching for turns out to be in a thread that has hundreds of replies, because the search only takes me to the start of the thread, not to the post that contains the terms I searched for. Consequently, I spend about 5 minutes using ^F to search through each page of the returned thread, then selecting the next page and using ^F again, and so on & on until I eventually find the post that contains the search terms. Am I just missing an option somewhere, and a proper post-level search result is an option ? If not, could you please consider fixing search so that it will take us to the matching post instead of just the start of the thread ? Thanks, Gordon |
RE: Search feature
is it topics and replies? maybe? under search only.

RE: Search feature
Gordon,
Yes. Default is "combine topics and replies". Change it to "topics and replies" or the other option of replies and you will see the post results instead of thread. Also once IN a thread the search at bottom right searches only that thread. Same for when in the forum. Bottom right searches that forum only. Contextual |
RE: Search feature
I just added "hints" to the search boxes bottom right in forum and thread.
"Search this forum" "Search this thread" |

RE: Search feature
Thanks Marc. I forgot that I had asked the question, hence my rather late reply ! Gordon |
