This horse is dead and to continue to flog it serves no purpose. Thanks!! |
cryer i mean Flyer 91
The only thing out of line in the post your talking about is your offering them to any one else for an extra discount than the offers you received at 90 bux, you may have had an argument until you stepped to that level. Buz^

Buz,
I think you need to re-read my response (or quite possibly I need to get better at using the emotiocons).:D In any case, I'm not so proud I wouldn't have sold them to the others at the same price, and I though that was clear to a thinking person. Heck I'd even sell you one. ;) Maybe I 'am' expecting too much, and that expectation might very well be a carry over from RCO's rules regarding this kind of thing. I do think if someone has an exception with a price being asked they should either go private to state their 'incorrect' new prices, or just move on. To post to a persons for sale ad that the item is teh same new (specially when it's not) is not only crass but is not within the the rules. But certainly, my interpretation of rule #5 might be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. |
????????????
sorry i think that you need to re-think your position.
thank you and godspeed denni w. martin sr. :D |
YOU HAVE A POINT
Y ou have the right to ask what you want for your item's. Buyer's have the right to offer what they are willing to pay for said item's.If were on the same page, I agree that a buyer should make a reasonable offer , or keep his opinion's to himself(including posting anyone else's price for said item). If there is a real concern then someone should make there case in a PM or by E-MAIL. :D
BUT!! I'm not much of a thinking person.Buz^ |
????????????
thank you buz---------------------------------------------------

"sorry i think that you need to re-think your position. "
Yeah, it would seem that the majority thinking on this is that it is OK to post that "the asking price is the same as a new price" (irrespective of it being correct or not) in response to a person's ad, to be used as a bargaining tool. Kinda like the wild statements made when haggling at a flea market, sort of thing. My interpretation of the rule is apparently incorrect and I agree it can certainly be a powerful tool to be able to post that a person's price should be lower because the new price for the same item is only (pick a number ... as long as it makes the price asked seem too high to everyone). I stand corrected and yield to the more informed on this subject. |

But it would seem we just might both be a bit outdated if maintaining that view. ;) Its good to be a dinosaur!! :D |

I may have been a little more reserved than you but I'm with you Flyer91. I have been tempted to post about price but don't think it's any of my business if I'm not buying. If I am buying I can always offer what I think is fair which may be a lot less than your idea.
I don't beleive a moderator should get into that unless it's through email or PM, NOT PUBLICLY. |

This is what I see under Rule 5, don't know if this is what you are referring to or not. Trust me, the mods are held on a higher standard then the normal user, we have to be good at communicating with users, deciphering messages, and we must have an excellent knowledge of the rules so that we know when they have been broken. Now, this isn't the hardest job that I have ever done but it still takes time and effort to pay attention to detail. I don't believe that any of us actually get paid for this job which means it is and has been a voluntary process for various reasons. I'm not a heli pilot YET! but I have allot of experience on these boards and I can see what the consumer wants. My only suggestion to you would be to remove all of your argumentative posts from within your original, change the price in the 'first' 'top' post and see what happens. I don't think that people want to do business with someone that is hostile. NO NO That is not a crack on you at all, just my observations. Hope this helps a lil. Gastronom |

The rule I was referring to is the "Swap Shop" rule #5.
You are probably right about starting fresh, (or even just moving on.) My response was meant more to be funny in an "acrid humor" way and I 'thought' the emoticons demonstrated that humor, at least with the lowball guys. But certainly, I wasted no personality whatsoever when I called to task, the people that posted the information that was unsubstantiated, And then once again, my rancor showed when they couldn't back up what they said, that appeared to make my price look to be the same as a new price. It's all really no biggie, and I've made more of it than it should have been. BTW: Neat dog!! Mine doesn't fly worth spit, and eats me out of house and home .... but I love that mutt anyways!! :) :) |

Hey would you do me a favor and close this thread, that is if you are done with this subject... ;) wanna talk about a piece of work, check this explanation of what we do:: Our RCAdmin wrote this in the Jets thread, of course he did way better then I could have... Gordon who is new at the moderating gig has appropriately shut this one down. Many good points have been made and I listen to all of them and take heed. Without having a pulse on the users experience which IMHO is what it's all about then one cannot improve in areas which might need it. I will say that first this thread is not jet related so really shouldn't been in this forum and to show that the mods give some leeway as I prefer less censorship and heavyhandedness over more that it has run this far to allow many to voice their concerns although not appropriate here. We are dealing with people who have different personalities and interpretations of things. One mod might close something faster than another mod might. One user might feel something should be closed sooner than it was while another user might feel it should have been left open longer! It's hard to always win and we mostly strive to be as consistent as possible. So everyone knows it's rare that on any questionable calls a mod acts on his own accord. As Gordon points out the moderators have a private forum to ask for opinions on how to handle many issues here. We have around 50 moderators who work the site and if any have questions where they are unsure or feel their opinion might be off they poll the entire moderator group as a sanity check. Sometimes mods will strongly disagree over things. I've even lost 2 or 3 mods since RCU started over issues with certain rules that were decided upon. All that said just remember a few things. This is a hobby and for many of us a passion. We all do it because we enjoy it. The moderators help out because they enjoy helping others or for other reasons but at this time none are monetary related. It's been my experience since I was a little kid 26 years ago and ever since that the group in this hobby are some of the most generous people when it comes to giving up their time to help others. On another comment and with all that said above, yes the site is "for profit" at this stage of the game. It does cost significant and growing dollars to run it and we are urging more companies to come on and advertise here to support the site and promote their own products to an audience that wants to see these products. Last...one thing a mod loses when he comes on as moderator is how he has to read a thread. Most read it at face value and enjoy the site. A moderator has to pass judgement on every sentence and word here as they read a thread. It's much more difficult on the moderator to fully enjoy all RCU has to offer when reading the site through these "tinted glasses". After a couple months this usually burns out moderators and I urge them to take a good break as over time they almost all become more inconsistent in certain ways from reading threads this way. And last...those ebay links...I'd say let's keep them off here in general. I had setup an auction forum where one could post and view these things and it had almost no traffic but I fear the forums would get cluttered with ebay promo posts if we allow this. I really don't have a problem with what John posted or if anyone posted something similar but fear others might see that and give an inch and they take a mile and then the usefullness of RCU would deteriorate a bit for each user. |
