Off Topic
 

At this point I request we have an off topic forum for every section(e.g. Airplanes, heli's, and cars). As a thread started as a friendly hello, the thread appears to be closed because it had nothing to do with R/C's. I call B.S. on this, we are all here because there is a passion for R/C's, if that is not enough then what is?? There is absolutly nothing wrong with opening a thread to say hello to someone if you see them in that forum. So how bout it?, I was a tad on the pi$$ed sied to see that we all share the love of R/C's yet we can't just say hello, how's it going????

when I want to say hi I PM them that way we don't clutter up the boards with ( Hi how are you)

The PM feature is nice but on the other hand, when you see 2 or 3 guys browsing the same forum that you would just like to shoot the breaze with an off topic forum would be great. I have never saw anyone I know browsing the clubhouse!!!

We have never allowed off RC topic here at RCU. The site was built so people who were interested in RC could talk about the hobby. If you allow off topic no good can come of it. It's been tried before and sent other sites down the tubes. There are quite a few threads/posts on this topic and the pros and cons if you search here for them. I don't have the time to explain it over and over as it has been done here before. After you read the explanation you will see clearly why such a forum is a slipperly slope that will jeopardize the quality and enjoyment of this site.

The rule has served everyone well. It has made RCU 26,000 strong in just a little over one year. The number one RC site because people come here for RC and not politics, religion and so on. 2 or 3 guys shooting the breeze in their own thread to say hi or off topic is not what the public forums are made for. PM can be used for this or other chat services.

Hope you understand but if not please find the other threads on this.
