G45 Muffler Stack

I am having a problem with the muffler stack cracking on my 45 engine. The plane has experienced some very minor crashes. I have balanced the prop and spinner. I am going to have someone check the crank to see if it is bent. Otherwise I am out of ideas. If it is the crank is it feasible to replace the crank and bearings. If so can you list a supplier for the parts.

Thanks

Ray

Almost any hobby retailer in the U.S. can order SuperTigre parts and accessories. You can locate a SuperTigre retailer at:

Thanks for the info on where to find parts. But do you have any suggestions on why I continue to have this problem? The engine seems to run fine but after a few flights the muffler stack cracks in the casting area.

RE: G45 Muffler Stack

Some things to check:

If you're running the rubberized gasket between the engine and the exhaust header, this can cause flexing as the engine vibrates. We usually don't use the gasket.

You might also want to see if the mating surfaces of the exhaust stack or the header are good and flat. If they're not, then some stress is being put onto the header when you tighten it onto the engine.
