Problem with ST 2000

Hello,
I have an ST 2000 that had set for quite some time. So I striped it and cleaned it. I used the same quailty carb cleaner that ive always used on many diffrent engines. It cleaned up nicely as well as the carb did. So it has good compression i started out with the basic (high and Low speed)needle setings. And a new Fox long glow plug and good quailty 5% fuel, Well no go I cant get it to run for the life of me Ill get a slight spit or sputter every once in a while but no hope I got so tire of smacking the prop i built a high torq starter fot it so i could turn some RPM and play with the needle settings while spining it over still no luck im stuck, Can you offer any suggestions?
Thank you

Problem with ST 2000

It sounds like the carb's just not set up correctly. It's easy to miss the settings. See the note we posted earlier about getting the SuperTigre carbs set up. The instructions apply to all SuperTigre carbs.

Another problem with the large SuperTigre engines is the fact that it's easy to get them flooded while trying to start them. I tend to flood them if I've not run one in a while. Choke carefully. You can usually tell the engine's flooded when it will on "pop" occasionally, and will tend to run backwards when propped.

In many cases, we use our safety stick and prop the engine backwards to get it to start running. Once it's running, we then get the engine leaned to proper RPM.

We usually use an O.S. #8 plug and 5%-10% fuel. The engines like lower Nitro fuels better than the higher-nitro stuff. Oil can be as low as 10%-12% on a well-broken-in engine. If the engine's not broken in, then use fuel with at least 15% oil.
