Default Trex 600 nitro help

I am looking at buying a trex 600 nitro heli off a friend, there is only one thing i am concerned about, it was originally a belt driven tail and was converted to torque tube. The problem is the torque tube housing that sits inbetween the two cf frames is being pulled in and distorted, eg the torque tube housing is too narrow. Can anyone shed any light on this
