Default Trex 450 Head speed with Dx7

Hi,
I'm using a Align 450M motor on my 450 se v2 but it doesn't have quite as much head speed as my old 430xl. Can anyone tell me what radio adjustments I can make to gain a little more head speed but not get that drop or jump when switching between normal and idle up. My pitch curve is 0-25-50-75-100 in idle up and 32-39-50-75-100 in norm and throttle curve is 100-90-80-90-100 in idle up and .5-40-80-90-100 in norm. Thanks

Check where the throttle stick position is when you are hovering. I notice that you have even curve in normal and idle up over 50%. There shouldn't be speed jump now. Same for pitch curve. If you want more head speed, then change the throttle curve to be the same over 50% for both normal and idle up, keeping both the same. Having said that, what pinion are you using? If you are using a 12T, consider changing to a 13T without changing your radio setting. You will automatically gain head speed.

Use this link to [link=http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/gallery/14684/?script=headspeed]calculate head speed[/link].

I'm running a 14t pinion. It all works fine in low elevation but I live at 7000 ft and need a little more head speed while inverted. The heli doesn't jump now when switching between idle up and normal but I hope to adjust it so it doesn't with the new settings. So I think your saying tis to bump up my numbers some for both throttle settings but not pitch settings? So maybe instead of .5-40-80-90-100, maybe .5- 45-85-95-100 and instead off 100-90-80-90-100 try 100-95-85-95-100? Also while using the head speed calculator you send I input 35 to 40c 3 cell lipos and got about 200 more rpms. Right now I'm using 25c 3 cells. But I have a bunch of the 25c's so hate to waste them. Thanks for your help.

OK, in altitude, I would compensate with increased (and decreased) pitch. Check your blade pitch (with a guage) in idle up mode (unplug your motor to be safe). You should have a good range, such as -12 to +12. Adjust that in your transmitter. Try with Swash Mix, but note that Servo Travel can go more than 100% - up to 150% for each servo. When you touch Servo Travel, remember that the Swashplate will move, therefore your pitch measurement will not be accurate at the point you are looking if swashplate is not level. Level your swashplate after if you change travel.
