I have stopped using Align Gyros & FBL 3G
#1

I have reached my fill of align gyros and FBL electronics. I will not buy nor use the Align systems in the future.
I was hovering a BRAND NEW 500 the other day... a bit of tail vibration and then uncommanded the heli just slammed down into the ground.
Enough is enough, I have had it with their awful and expensive tail gyros and now their 3G fly-barless unit.
All the money we spend on these electronics should buy a much better product.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I've been using Align electronic products for over 4 years almost exclusively ( owned 1 Hitec & a JR 500T gyro), and except when "I've set them up wrong" I've never had an issue. I've got Align gyros on my 500, 450 and a 3G unit on on 550 all with out issues, and I'm flying 3d. I've heard of others complaining about align products but all to often if you follow the posts long enough, it turns out to be a set up issue, mechanical issue or bad servo.
Hope you have better luck with other equipment

Well, glad that you are having luck with them... my experience with multiple setups. GY750, GY780 is that the gyros will not hold the tail... that is over about 8 setups. In a couple of cases, we ended up using a $12 crap gyro that held better. A solid tail is very important to a beginner and more so for advanced flying.
Now after this SLAM CRASH... I have reached the end of my rope with Align control electronics. I know there are a lot of guys that agree and a lot of guys that disagree. I like the T-Rex helis, motors, escs and servos... just not the electronic controls ... I am done with them.

What version firmware is/was in your fbl gyro? Have heard some ugly things about V1.0 and V1.0. Also, V2 and 2.1 didn't seem to be much better.
Yours sounds like a V1, V2 issue.
I am running 3.0 with good luck (so far) but I am not a aggressive flyer.
Many of the hardcore 3d guys out her in the Sacramento valley are using beastX in its many iterations with very good luck, the bux to burn guys are using skookum, V-bar.
Tail rotor control (imho) is either large (600 & up) Futaba or small (500 & down) Hi-tec.

I have seen and experienced Align gyro issues as well. Two things I will not buy from Align are gyros and esc's.
Normally I would think the same, but align gyros have been a long standing bad reputation from many people over years. Sorry, but for the success ratio for Align gyros appear to be small and haven't seen anything to change my opinion. I use beastx and Ikon, both have a great reputation and continue to do so. Flying with confidence and not worrying if something is going to fail is important to me.

I don't trust Align gyros, or any other Align product that involves stabilization. The Align gyro on my 700E F3C was a constant "drifter". After reading about all the problems people had with the 3G, when I went FBL, I went Beast X. No problems at all.
