First, do any of you use the GWS R-6NII on your trex and if so were do you plug in the ESC to the reciever. The trex book says ch 1 and the reciever says ch 4. I've got a JR 8103 TX. I don't have my gyro yet but wanted to set up the head.
Second, should I use the rubber mounts for the DS281 servos or hard mount them to the frame.
This is a trex 450XL but I bought the SE frame and built it with that so that I could up grade every thing else as I replace parts.
Thanks,
Dave

I would not trust that rx. there is just too much RFI on a Heli.... for JR, something like the 770 would be a very nice way to go....
as for the servos... hard mount them... and they will be fine for hovering a basic flight... but the gears will strip when you try to 3D them...
invest in the metal gears for the servos...
I believe ch 1 is throttle ch for JR (I fly Futaba and our throttle channel is 3) either way, plug the ESC in to the throttle channel

I went with the JR 770 Rx and suggest you look into it as well.
Yeap, hard mount the servos. There's way to much flex with the grommets on these helis.
I have the 281 servos as well and have thought about the metal gears, course they'll add 1.5oz to the heli.
FWIW, I have not yet flown my Rex, it's almost done. I have flown my buddies 450X a good bit, though.

the jr rx is good but I have actually had better luck with the hitech electron6. in my bird i got better range and less glitches. each users experience can and will vary so it is not a hard and fast rule. I have used those gws rx's (i have 4 sitting in the hobby room collecting dust) I have had nothing but bad luck with them.

Thanks all of you for the feedback. I did hard mount the servos. I use GWS recivers on my combat planes with good
results and I had it so I thought I'd try it. I flew it today twice so far,(the batts. charging now. I got two twiches of the tail so far,
so I'll be getting a better reciever tomorrow. If I get to were I can do 3D, I'll put better servos in then. I mostly got this to fly indoors
when the weather stinks, otherwise I'm out flying 3D or combat with fixed wings.
Thanks again,
Dave

I'm not sure you'll find better servos for the Rex. All the popular ones seem to have the same issue with gears from what I have seen.
FWIW, Ray and Kyle Stacy fly the DS281 servos in both of their T-Rex's. Ray stated he has a drawer full of other micro servos he tried and found the 281's to be the best for consistent centering.

Whtbronco,
Thats good to here. I flew it four more times today and all went well. I bent the antena tube in to a half circle around the landing gear so the antena would never be pointed straight at the RX and no more glithes. Here is a picture just cause there's not enough pictures around here.

That's an interesting way to route the antenna. If it means no more glitches than it's perfect right!
I ran mine from the Rx to the tail and back to the front. I just don't like using whip antennas even though they look better and are much easier to route of course.

I had a lot of glitching problems when setting up my trex. I have a hitec six channel receiver. Everyone told me it was either the receiver or the proximity of the receiver to the esc. After moving everything around with the same glitches, I just let my antenna hang from the helicopter. It flew great. After about five glitch free flights I installed a deans whip antenna and have not had a glitch since.

is your electron6 the correct shift?? Airtronics are positive shift like JR.
also, electron6 are dual conversion Rx, do you have a matching Dual conversion xtal??
