Default Taill drive gear moves up and down?

hi all,

i just realized, that the tail can freely move up and down. it can even move that far, until the little gear touches the main drive gear.
is this normal?
because now the sidewalls can rub against each other.

is it normal?
does someone else have this kind of free movement?

- - - its a XL CPM - - -

Regards,
Marcel

Nope, I've got a CDE, an HDE, and I built another HDE for a friend, and none of them have had that much play in them.

Is the gear able to move up and down on the shaft, or does the whole thing move up and down?

Yeah, that's not good.

You might try glueing the shaft inside bearing and the gears, which should stop the whole thing from moving up and down. You'd need to be caredul to only get the glue on the shaft, and not on the bearings etc. If that doesn't work to hold it in place, which it should, you'll need to get a new front tail gear setup.

DON'T GLUE anything. If the gear is loose on the shaft-Get a new whole new one. If the bearings are loose in the block, repace them with the bearing loctite they supply in the kit--Only a speck on the outside race.

not the gear is loose - the whole shaft is moving...

ok, i will get something new.
does it make sense to go with upgrades?

when i have to take everything(!) apart, i thought about the follwoing:
http://cgi.ebay.com/MicroHeli-CNC-Ma...QQcmdZViewItem
and
http://cgi.ebay.com/ALIGN-T-REX-450-...QQcmdZViewItem

or better this tail gear?
http://cgi.ebay.com/MicroHeli-Front-...QQcmdZViewItem
but i don´t know if the top gear is included?

or only replace the back with a standard one
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-REX-Complete-T...QQcmdZViewItem

thank you all for your thoughts

I had my aluminum tail drive gear at the front start slipping the shaft on the fourth flight.I am going to put the plastic gear/shaft back on.One of the aftermarket gears above looks like it has a set screw. That looks like the way to go.Any comments?
