Default T rex se for $500 good buy?

I just ordered an se with 420 motor ,35amp speed control, rc expert servos(4 pieces), rc expert 3 cell smart charger, xtrem power 1800mah 12c and 2200mah 18c batteries. Is this a good buy? Too good?(i may be getting ripped off) what components are worth using, i heard the servos are junk?

Well, the RC-Expert servos are pretty poor, and the motor is not all that powerful at 3200kv.....the 430L has much more power with 3550kv.

I have the 430L motor, and my buddy has the same setup but with the 420L motor, and his heli has much less head speed than mine. It makes his kinda unstable.

The Align 35A ESC is good, and the batteries are decent too. I'm guessing that you got a telebee gyro with it too? If so, that gyro will get you in the air, but it's a hunk of junk compared to the GY401.

I bought my 450XL from Benny at RC-expert. The package was missing some pieces but he shipped replacements pretty quickly. I agree with Honda about the servos being crap. I didn't even use them and bought 3 Hitec 55 and 1 HS50 for the tail. I didn't splurge on the 401 but got the 240 gyro which works just fine. Tail is rock steady.

The 420 motor is okay too. I just recently upgraded to a 430 but kept the 420 as a spare. Everything else should work for you just fine. The added bling on the SE will help too. I scrapped the plastic head and tail on my XL for Microheli CNC upgrades. Didn't really have to but wanted the rock solid pieces anyway.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the heli though. Have fun!

I checked the package i do have the 430 motor. I traded in my blade cp for a 401 at the local hobby store. Now i just have to figure out what radio. any suggestions?

I too ordered from benny. It was an ebay auction that i offered him less for the package minus the gyro. I had to pay him outside e bay so I hope he keeps his word with the rest of the package.

I'd suggest either the JR9303 or the Futaba 9CHP. Cheaper than that look at the JR8103 or Futaba 7CHP. Still cheaper look at the JR6102 or the Futaba 6EXH. I wouldn't even think of going cheaper than those.

The more you spend on the radio the happier you'll be in the long run. I'd also suggest getting a PCM reeiver with any radio you select.

I use the JR8103 with R770 PCM receiver, 3 JR DS281 servos and a Futaba 9650 with 401 gyro on the tail.

I agree for the most part with WhtBronco....

Although the 9303, and the 8103 might be a little pricey for most people. I have a JR 8103 for my Raptor 60V2 which I love, but I have a Futaba 6EXHP transmitter for my TRex, which is ample for the micro. Having said that, I'm thinking about upgrading to the JR 6102 for my TRex for more control and a bigger screen. I like to be able to see my throttle and pitch curves on screen.

Can you give us a link to the battery charger that comes with the set.........it's not just one of those altered ac adapter deals is it?
