Default Didn't receive battery for Spektrum DX7

Is it unusual that I ordered a Spektrum DX7 from rchover.com and they didn't include the 4.8v 1100 mah receiver battery as well as the on/off toggle switch? I realize that the servos aren't included (dont need them anyways since I got some Futaba S9252 servos), but you'd think they'd at least give me the batteries for the receiver. Is this standard practice to just yank out the important stuff that I'll obviously need?

Where can I order a 4.8v 1100mah spektrum receiver battery and on/off toggle switch from?

The only battery I have that came with the T-rex 600 is the 7.4v 1100mah battery thats supposed to be for the BEC.

Hmmm...normally the DX7 comes with Servos too....

Looks like you bought the Exclusive RCHover package
http://www.rchover.com/inc/sdetail/68249

No battery listed...

So you received exactly what was advertised..... at least thats what it looks like to me

Yep, thats the heli kit, you don't need the battery if it's going on a Trex.
Just plug the wires in as you would on any other receiver that you would install on your bird, plug in the bind plug, and bind. Your done.

I think I would have spent the extra $30 to get it with the servos.

The 4 digital servos alone are worth $100

Yep, worth 25 bucks each.
Then all ya gotta do is advertise them somewhere, sell them, ship them, and pray that the guy that buys them doesn't burn them up right away and tell everyone on the forums that you sold him junk stuff.(we've all heard of those stories)
I opted to pay for the heli version myself because I didn't want the hassles.
I only have the Trex 450, I didn't need the other stuff.
To each his own this is only 1 persons perspective.

So, somebody mentioned that the BEC battery could also power the receiver and somebody else mentioned that a battery is not even necessary?

Correct, the battery is only necessary if you are using the rx in a glow heli.
You have the Trex 600, you already have battery power.

Edit, Maybe I shouldn't comment on the 600, as I don't have one but, on my Trex 450, the rx gets it's power from the 11.1 lipo when I plug the speed controller into it.

Hope this clarifies it.

OK lets clarify here.

The ESC (on small helicopters) has the BEC built in. This is what provides the receiver and servos with power and makes it so you don't need to use a separate receiver battery.

The T-rex 600 has a higher voltage ESC since it flies on 22 volts (or more). Most on board ESC BEC's of this type won't allow the BEC to operate if you exceed 12 volts. As such, most ESC's that have high voltage capability simply won't come with a BEC in the first place, like the Align ESC in this case.

The main battery pack on the T-Rex 600 WILL NOT power your receiver or anything else. This is used strictly for motor power. Which means you have two choices.

You can use a standard 4 or 5 cell nimh/nicd battery pack to power your receiver/servos or use an external BEC.

The T-rex 600 ships with something of a combination of both. It comes with a 2 cell LIPO receiver battery which, in its self, is too much voltage for your receiver and servos. This is why they also include a voltage regulator (they call it a BEC though it's not actually eliminating any batteries) that you connect between the lipo and your RX. The BEC plugs into the 7.4 lipo and samples it down to 6V to be used by your RX and servos.

The obvious advantage to this is that LIPOs are lighter than NIMH/NICD pack, and can usually provide higher burst current than NIMH/NICD can, but you're still operating on two seperate batteries like a regular glow ship.

You could also buy a seperate BEC that is capable of high voltage (such as a UBEC) in which case, you could connect that inline with your main power batteries, and then your servos and receiver would be powered off the main battery pack eliminating the need for the receiver battery all together.

Thanks for the quick answer. I had already ordered this before I read your reply. So in other words, the 7.4volt battery and the external BEC that came with the T-Rex 600 combo kit is adequate enough to power the receiver and servos?

I got from ebay these two items. I guess I can still use them, right?

Yes, the kit supplied stuff is fine to power everything, you could even get higher capacity 2 cell lipos to increase run time if you wanted (i.e 2200 mAh packs or something similar). The extra weight would be negligible on the T-rex and allow you to fly quite a few times before having to recharge.

A standard nimh/nicd pack is just fine too though, it never hurts to have an extra RX battery laying around .

Just be careful with the mechanical switch. Mechanical switches are prone to failure, especially in high-vibe models like helicopters.

I agree with credence, I personally would not use the switch.
