AGNKX015035A T-REX 450SE V2 (CDE) BLACK W/3550 MOTOR & 35G ESC $499.99

Size – The 600 may be big for a gym so the 450 would probably be better.

Black - I thought I read somewhere the Black is stronger than the silver, plus I don’t like silver.

SE - Comes with the upgrades (cheaper in the long run)

V2 – the good one (V1 had some issues on some components)

Motor and ESC are good on this one.

Have fun!

The 450 se for 499$ seems a bit expensive! 400$ seems more reasonable. shop around!

The 600 is pretty scary indoors, but if your venue is large enough...

We fly indoors at a local community center. [link=http://www.hermanbrothershobbies.com/indoor/]Pics here.[/link] The session that those pictures were from were in the cafeteria, and now we use the gym. About the same floor space, but much higher ceiling.

We did fly one 600, but it was too large. The 450's are comfortable hovering, and slow circuits. No fast forward flight.

Of the 450s you listed, I could get the SE. And decent components. 3x HS65 on cyclic. Futaba GY401 gyro. Futaba 9650 on the tail if the budget is big enough, HS65 if not.

The T-Rex 600 is very similar to a 50 sized nitro powered heli.

If your budget allows it, the 600 would be a very enjoyable model. Way more stable than the 450.

What is your flight experience?

If you can hover a blade CP, you will love the T-Rex. The 450 can be set up more stable than the CP, and the 600 will be a dream. WAY more stable.

Battery cost for the 600 is a bit frightening, but if I were buying today, that is what I would get.

I fly my T-Rex 450 with ThunderPower 3S 2100mAh LiPo batteries.
For my brother's T-Rex 600, we use 6S 5000mAh LiPos.

What charger do you have? The trucks still use NiMH batteries right? Some chargers handle multiple battery chemistry charging methods. And some only do one, NiMH or LiPo. Not both.

Ive been hovering a blade cp pro on and off for a few monthes got a raptor 50 havent broken it in yet then for a great deal on a t-rex 600 and I love the 600 hovers like a dream. Ive flown it in the back of the lhs in bout a 10x10 area and it not hard to keep it there... where my cp pro was all over the place other then that my first couple of flights where at night in a friends front yard and a dark parking lot never had any problems hovering out 20-30 yards wven in wind it feels good and always easy to control... my friends have a 450 size hdx or something and it seems squirllyas hell. so I would say go with the 600

i dont know if this makes a considerable difference or not, but heres what i know
the black CF frames are stronger than the "silver CF" frames, just becaus there is not silver CF. CF is black, and only black. i guess the regular frame for a 450 is comprised of 4 layers like this:

CF layer (cant remember how thick)
CF layer
CF layer
CF layer

the way they make the silver looking CF stuff is usually by melting aluminum onto the individual strands of CF, making the outside look silver. this makes something which i cant remember the name for right now, correct me if you know it. this gives the CF more flex, and therefore the whole sheet more flex, therefore WEAKENING the piece. this is woven into regular CF weave, and then they layer it like this:

"silver CF"
regular CF
regular CF
"silver CF"

That is a very good model. I am running the same motor and ESC on my 450.

Now, what components are you going to put on it?

Vince's recommendations:
4x Hitec HS65 servos (unless you have the budget for 3x HS65 and a Futaba 9650)
Futaba GY401 gyro

The JR G500T is an Excellent Gyro.

About $10.00 more than a Futaba 401 but worth it.
