Default New Align ESC, 35X! Look at this!

Great news guys!

I just bought a fresh from Align 450S CF kit last week and it came with the 35X ESC.

It has a blue heatsink and I noticed that the heat shrink on this one is actually on top of the heat sink edges like the popular esc heat sink mod by Bob "Finless Bob" White.

I was emailing Bob about gyro's, mentioned this and he had me email him a pic... He was laughing in response in that "Align finally listened to him on the heat sink".

So the heat sink is actually installed and works correctly this time AND here is the BIG news!

The BEC in the 35X esc IS a 6 volt output! WOW! [sm=shades_smile.gif]

I will be removing this unit from my 450S (backup heli) and installing it on my hot rod heli the 450 SE!

So far I have about 10 flights on the new 35X and it is very good... The only difference I have noticed is the heli mode soft start spin up speed is a little slower than the 35G.

Yes as long as it fits under the hood!

2200 is about as big as you can fit and weight wise...

Im trying to understand these figures.

Here is some info about this ESC from DeeTee.

BEC output: Max current 2A
2 cells Lithium/6~7 cells Ni-Mh=>4servos
3 cells Lithium/8~9 cells Ni-Mh=>3servos
4 cells Lithium/10~12 cells Ni-Mh=>2servos

So a 3 Cell lipo (11.1V) can only safely run 3 servos. Trex 450 requires 4 servos.

What does this mean. Im sure plenty of people are running 3S 11.1V lipos with the 450. Are you all running an externel BEC or just using the Align ESC & BEC.

Should you still use an external BEC with this ESC.

Eg ParkBec 5V or 6V.

Or is the power & heating issue OK now.

So far heat has been at a good level.

Of course it has been only like 60 degrees outside here at the warmest, so it is pretty cool.

Summer here at 100 will tell the tale!

robmoney,

Thanks.

I live in the tropics so think an external BEC would be preferable.

Anyone fly in hot climates using the Align ESC BEC only, or do you use an external BEC.
