Default Confused on which tail servo to get for t-rex se v2

Sorry if this has been covered but I'm getting confused on which servo I should get for the tail. Ive got the Futaba 401 gyro. Lots of people use the S9650, others swear by the S9254, then I've heard about the S9257. I jus need to know the cons and pros of these servos and which ones you guys prefer? Thanks a ton!!

I don't know anything about the 9650 but the 9254 is for full size heli's. It's an awesome servo but won't work in this application.

I have the JR DS3400G and it rocks. I have to really bang on it hard for it to break loose.

I don't know the Futaba model number but I hear there is an awesome futaba servo and that it and the JR are both excellent.

2 electric heli reviews coming in the next few weeks, a Trex450 and Mini Titan

I used a 401/9650 in both.

I use an Airtronics Digital servo #94761Z, 66 oz. in. torque, 0.12 seconds for 60 degreee travel, 0.8 oz. weight. About 60 bucks from hobbypeople. I fly a Trex 450S using a GY401. The tailfeathers are rock solid.

Thanks for the replies! So the Fut S9650 is the way I was thinking. Anyone have any negative experience with this on their heli?

I am using the 9650, the 9257 is also okay.. faster than the 9650 but you wont really feel the extra speed.. but it has less torque... I prefer the 9650 like the extra torque.. so it can hold hard piros...

i run the 9257 and its fantastic. very fast and rock solid when used with the logictech 2100t gyro. The whole torque thing, well i doubt the tail is the place for a super high torque servo and for the same price as a 9650, why not get extra speed, basically you can crank the gain up a bit higher without getting any wag. just make sure you BEC is no higher than 5v and life will be good.

The S9257 is the best (only)one for you because its designed for use with the 401, has a 0.08s/60deg time
thus it will also hold good in high speed reverse flights. And it is same size as the s9650...

perfect for hard 3D on a micro chopper

I beg to differ. I bought a used Trex that already had a 9254 installed and although it looks HUGE, it works perfectly.

No, the 9257 will fry on that voltage, spend the $10 and get a step down inline voltage regulator and it will reduce the voltage to a safe level. I mean, even at 5v, the 9257 is basically 2x as fast as the 9650 for the same price so why not go for it?

I already have a 9650 and just ordered a LogicTech 2100T gyro. You mention a "step down inline voltage regulator". Where can I get this as I will need it to use this gyro?

The S9650 will run on 6v, don't know about the Logictech gyro though.

I had a S9650 on my T-rex, and altough it's a good servo, I wasn't fully satisfied. I changed to a s3400g and I really like it.

Apparently if you use a 401 you can put a bit of delay on the gyro if using the S9650, that will possibly improve performance.

It seems as though there's some differences in the specs for the logictech gyro. Everything I've seen from stateside vendors show it as 4.5-5.5v but their korean web site shows it as 4.5-6v. Anyone using it on 6v?

Also, was it a framerate issue between it and the 401?
