I would say Heli Hobby. But that is only because of my personal preference.
http://www.helihobby.com/html/trex_helicopter.html
For $549 you can get a Trex450S, with a 2,4Ghz radio. Including a 2200ma battery And a charger.
Brilliant value for money!!!

I have an immaculate T-Rex 450SE V1 for sale. It is well-built and flies great. Never been crashed or even had a hard landing. If you scroll down the bottom of the Heli-Hobby page provided in the previous post you'll see the info for the SE V2. The differences between the V1 and V2 are listed there. I'll sell my V1 for $450 shipped (CONUS). I have all the original boxes and instructions. Can send close-up pictures of any area you'd like to see in more detail.

Yes I have been flying my trex for almost a year now and love it. But I also just got a .30 sized and almost we my self on the first spool up. The intimidation factor goes way up. From right about ouch that would hurt to please dont let the bad machine kill me.

thanks for all the inputs.
decided to just wait on the trex, till I can actually fly one.
saw a 500 at the HBS and boy it its big and DECAPITATELY/INTIMIDATING ouch
but I think the trexes are the sexiest ones out there.
got a flight Sim coming my way soon.
and in a month or two my new Heli.

Don't forget to search the boards. Since the introduction of the 500 people are dumping their 450's at a ridiculous rate. Some of these guys are 3d flyers who have taken very good care of their birds and have all the upgrades. Just something to think about. -Navyflier

Trex 450 SE V2 = $449.00 w/ blades, motor, esc...
Trex 500 CF = $489.00 w/ CF blades, motor, esc...
Since I already have a charger capable of charging 4-6 cell lipo's and balancing them that saved me some cash there. (Thunder-Power 1010c charger). But the parts in case of a crash aren't that much more than a Trex 450... Here's a few for instance from HeliDirect :
450 2 spindles =$5.99
500 2 spindles =$5.99
450 2 flybar rods =$4.99
500 2 flybar rods =$5.99
450 flybar paddles =$3.99
500 flybar paddles =$6.99
450 (3) main shafts =$7.99
500 (2) main shafts =$10.99
CF blades depending on brand for the 450 average from $40.00-$60.00.... Same exact prices for the 500...Depending on brand...
The Outrage brand lipo which are popular by many right now for a 6-cell 2200 mah 25c battery as also recommended as one battery to use by the manual costs fom HeliDirect $119.00.
One of the common cyclic servos chosen for the 500 guys like the Futaba 9650... Which are popular for our tail servos on the 450's...
My preferred (sp?) batts for the 450 are the TP Prolite series 2100 mah 25c which costs about $79.00...
Its very amazing the stabilty difference in the jump up from the 450 class helicopter. My dad has the Trex 600, but I've only hovered that so it was hard to really judge on how stable the bigger birds are in a actual flight. Now I really do see the light ! Its very true what they say about bigger being more stable, and yet the Trex 500 still being not to bad in terms of affordability. The availability of parts, and aftermarket part choices, along with the reliability of the Align name is why I chose the Trex rather than some of the other heli's in its class.... Pushing about 3 1/2 pounds it should provide me with an easier flight in the wind.
Cheers,
~Jeff

a hint of advice,
it is not always good to get a RTF heli if you are just transitioning from a fix pitch/coaxial heli. most of the time, to avoid crashes, you need to learn how to setup your heli correctly. and you only learn that by building your heli.
you don't need to go straight to a trex 500, although it is slightly bigger than 450 and more stable. but a 450 will do it. also, there are many options now for trex 450. there are plenty of aftermarket cheapo parts that sometime will work just fine.
check on finless bob trex 450 build videos. it is a good start. I transitioned from W36, a 400 size heli to trex 450. I have 2 trex 450, the second one I'm building it for my brother for xmas. I only have 2 crashes with my trex, and I have over 2 years in this hobby.
get a good radio, 6 channel will do. good servos, HS56 for cyclic, and futaba 9650 for tail, and a futaba 401 gyro. its a lot of money, but it is worth it if you are serious into this hobby. I practiced in the simulator all the time. Now I'm doing forward flight in the field, but I can do inverted hover in the simulator. Still scare to try inverted in real heli, but I believe onces you do it, it is very rewarding... Everyday you learn something new ...
I usually shop at
helidirect.com -> realible service for parts; don't get the outrage lipo batt, i've heard it is bad
rcandme.com -> custom build RTF helis, ship from texas
readyheli.com -> futaba 9650, 401 gyro is cheaper at this store.
hooobby.com -> get align motor and ESC for decent price...
I don't recomend
nitroplanes.com
xheli.com
my 2 cents ...

I agree with helifan the 450 is a great heli to transition on parts are cheap and easy to get. In addition the heli is super stable and fairly easy to learn I will warn when you are starting tune your blades for regular flight untill you have the thing down or you will discover broken parts from coming down to hard

Easy question: t-rex sa or se V2?
Big price difference, just pay the bux for the already installed upgrades or ... ? Do-it-myself as time goes by and things get broken??
At this time, I am having more good than bad days on the sim.

Ive got a se but its upgraded like crazy I got it off ebay for a ridiculous price if you are in the market and are going new i would get the v2 be prepared to replace every single part of the thing at least once as its got the juice and big power =big damage (I set the 450 down a little hard not to long ago and ended up replacing the boom rear rotor shaft main shaft and part of the main rotor head $38 and everyone present thought it was a good landing)

If money is not an issue, get the v2. It's all metal and you won't have to upgrade. Also the only things that usually break are the normal things like main shaft, main gear, feathering shaft, and blades of course. The average cost of repair for my SE v2 has only been $25 when I flew woodies...and that's after 5 MAJOR crashes.
Good luck,
Skarn
