Radios don't control the soft start function. That's done in the ESC programming. But you should be able to program the ESC with the radio. You didn't say which ESC you have, but most of them can be programmed with the radio. Others need a programming card.

I am guessing that you have already turned on the soft start function in your esc programming. If you have done this and it still starts too fast, you can flatten out the bottom of your throttle curve from 0%-25% in normal mode. While this will allow you to intially spool up slower it will make your curve pretty steep from 25%-50%. You need to keep your 50% setting the same so you don't get a huge jump when you switch to idle up. Give it a shot and see if it works for you.

I made all the settings acording the Align Manual, but still doing the same, try to play with my throttle trim tabs, sub trims, throttle curve, and still doing it. i think the problem is the TX and the receiver. Any idea, maybe the ESC

I had a problem with my Align ESC that came with my 450SA. I always had it programmed for soft start but one day it started spooling up fast. I tried re-programming it but it still won't soft start. I guess something went wrong with it. I went and bought a Castle Creations ESC and that one worked fine. I did have a problem with it after a few months and sent it back for repair. I decided to get a Scorpion ESC so I had something to use untill I got the Castle back. They replaced the Castle unit under warranty but my Scorpion works great so I never changed back. I've heard other people have had problems with Align ESCs and some say Align electronics aren't very good so your soft start problem might be in the ESC. You could try sending it in for repair or if you have the money, get a better ESC. I think a Scorpion will cost about the same as a new Align and a Castle Creations Pheonix 35 amp will cost a bit more. Alan

soft starts on the stock align esc are noted for doing this. no need to replace just get used to flying no soft start.

there are more benifits to no soft start then positives. most pro,s dont use soft start.

1 example is the 600,s auto in so sweet, if you get a glitch or temp loss of power and the heli starts back up in SS wich it should not do but will every now and then you can get into trouble.

I disagree 100% with this. Soft start is one of THE best safetly features there is period. If you accidentally flip throttle hold off while in ST1 or stick not zero, it will give you pleny of time to unplug battery or hit TH. Also the majority of veteran heli pilots I know including myself start off in ST1 with TH on and soft start enabled with throttle at mid stick. When we are ready to take off, flip off throttle hold and let soft start do it's thing.

Also, soft start will not kick back in with a glitch or temp loss of power! You would have to land and have zero power for many seconds.

Anyway, with all that said if your soft start is not working, I'd return the ESC. Have you verified your ESC is setup for soft start? You do this by listening to the beeps when you initialize it....there is a certain number of beeps for each ESC setting. I'm guessing you haven't got it programmed correctly. There is a finless vid showing how to do that with the stock 450 esc.

And I've never once heard that the stock Align ESC has EVER had a problem with soft start! Yes, governor mode, but not soft start.

Good luck,
Skarn
