guess i am just not as smart as some ...or ... maybe... i just think it better to get feedback from multiple independent consumers who are not finacially vested in the sale of a product vs the opposite.....my bad!

Default RE: t-rex 500 clone

I have read the Flasher 500 (new version) is 100% compatible and uses the toque tube tail system.

Both the Tarot and the Flasher websites claim to be 100% compatible. The Tarot is belt driven tail.

I have been trying to gauge the value of going to a clone over the 500ESP. The 500 ESP can be had for about $510 on a good day if your lucky but retails for $620. The Tarot 500 with CF blades, motor, ESC, and 3 Hitec 225MG servos is about $342 shipped. So with that, they both require a radio system, tail servo, gyro and batteries (all of which I have).

So the question is; is the quality differnace of $200 to $300 better for the Align??? I can buy a lot of spare parts (heck...an entire Tarot 500) for the diff in the cost.

So, do I loose performance by going to the clone???

Hi JJ, I would look closely at the real thing though as the saving aren't that great and you want a Trex other wise you wouldn't be looking at CLONES.
Trust me you will be happier with the real thing.
Just don't by the ESP model.!!

My thought

thanks for the feedback organdonor ...at times i look at the 'rex ...but see i have a 'rex 450 and a clone and to me it is 6 of one half a doz of the other - i even fly the clone more. i am not into 3D and "youtube" flying .... i may get to fly (hover around and now a few figure 8's - if you can call it that) once a week and i am HAPPY! , so for me investing that extra 50-100 bucks into retirement is actually a better deal for me - i love the things but for me it is just a hobby - i have done the "cheap/clone" route mostly all along and so far have more success than regrets ...maybe if i get into doing crazy stunt flying then i think about "authentic" things - see again (maybe just my negativity) they are all made in a factory somehwre in the world for a little as possible and they all crash and break.

but thanks for the input - maybe if a see a sale that justifies it then i will hop right on it.

happy flying bud.

thinking about the 500 size?  not sure which one to go?   hmmm   EXI 500 or Trex500.     this guy went with the exi500   http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1007317

he liked it at first.  but half way through the build he kept upgrading it to align parts.  even he admitted he should of went the trex route

its your money.  spend it how you want it.

on the 500 size, the clones doesnt have any chance...you can get the ESP fro $480 shipped and $600-$650 with gyro combo....so just add the rx and you can go to the park. On the 450 size is totally different cause there is a lot of different clones that work exactly the same than align.

My opinion is the get real deal with the 500ESP.
