If I was buying stuff, I'd get the Spartan DS-760 and Futaba S9256 for the servo. \

if you can afford it the spartan ds760 is the latest and the greatest  at the moment.

if I had to choose between the gy401 or the align gp750.  Defintely go for the gp750.  its much much better than the gy401.    I have both.

I agree, Noob. The thing is this: you gotta expect to pay for quality parts. Ido think perhaps my suggestion of the 9256 for the tail is overkill. The gyro is probably overkill, too but it can be found for around $169.99 so it's not that bad.

Cheers for that guys, due to budget I think this combo is the way I am heading ALIGN GP750 Head Lock Gyro Combo I can pick one up for $ 187 us
The spartan sounds like the gear with the GP 750 a close match. I have a 450 pro with the gp750 so at least I already know the set up. This is the first nitro set up so should be interesting to get the needle mix right. I have seen problems getting the throlte curve and pitch right so you have a good head speed

Using spectrum DS 821 servos on cylic
You might really want to rethink using those servos anywhere on your expensive new 600. If you search around, there are tons of threads about how these servos just don't cut it on a 50 sized nitro heli.
Here are just a few threads I found about the DS821 with a quick search. You might want to read these in their entirety.

As for the Gyro,
I would recommend the Spartan and a JR DS8900G. I use this setup on my 700 and it work flawlessly. On my 600N I use a Curtis Youngblood Solid G gyro with a JR DS8900G. While the Solid G works very well, my personal preference is for the Spartan. You might also want to check out the Logictech 6100T gyro with the 6100G servo. I have been using one of these combos on my 600 electric for over a year with excellent results. The Logictech takes a little more time to setup properly, but once done holds and performs as well as many of the other high end gyros on the market. The best part about the Logictech combo is you can get it for $200. http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=138370

I have never used one of the Align gyros, so I can't comment on their performance.

Tuning can be a little tricky if you have never done it before. Try to find someone with nitro experience to give you a hand.

Get yourself a good governor like the Aerospire Multigov Pro and you won't have to deal with getting your throttle curves and mixes just right. I run a Multigov on both my 600 and 700, not only are they easy to setup but they work excellent! I just tell it the head speed I want and it does all the dirty work.

That Align starter is pretty new on the market and people are trying them out. They look pretty slick with the case and and a place to store the 3S lipo. Just remeber that the price of the starter does not include the 3S lipo you will need to operate it.

I personally use a Hobbico Torque Master 180 starter powered by a 4S lipo to start both my 600 and 700 helis. I fabbed up a little mounting plate for the lipo and now the starter is very portable and easy to use. This thing packs plenty of punch and does not even break a sweat when turning over my 90. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXL398&P=7 I am also just using the cheap Century starter wand without any issues at all.

Here is a quick pic of my starter.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your new 600.

I have a 600nitro pro that I bought 2 years ago and I went overboard on the gyro/servo. Bought the 611 with a 9256. I just won a Hirobo SDX at IRCHA and I'm going with a Spartan and and Align DS620. ReadyHeli has the Spartans for $170 and the DS620 for $68. Alan

Here is the latest and greatest from Futaba. Even smaller than the Spartan gyro.

Yea, I would have gone with the gy520 if the Spartan was still the same price but like I said, ReadyHeli dropped the price on the Spartan to $170. Alan

The gy520 is a great gyro as well. I fly with a guy that has one on his TRex 700. He prefers the performance and size of the GY520 over the GY611 that he is using on his TRex 600. There are tons of really good gyros out on the market right now that greatly outperform the old GY401. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the ones mentioned in this thread.

I think the 520/BLS251 is the hot combo.

As for the 821's............I would ABSOLUTELY NOT fly those servos anywhere on a 50 size nitro heli.

The manufacturer specifically warns not to use them.

What about the GY520? You guys think that's better than the Spartan DS760? Only reason I ask is because I know nothing about the Spartan's and I've read nothing but good things about the 520. Are any of you guys running the 520 and can tell me first hand what you think?

The Spartan was the "had to have' gyro until the gy520 came out. Personally, I don't know if one is really better than the other. I think it might boil down to ease of setup and programability. I just bought my first Spartan and have not installed it yet so I can't tell you how easy or hard it is to set up. I have always used gy401's and a the 611 and I'm comfortable with them. Alan

If you follow the Finless video on Spartan setup (don't bind at left stick, it's no longer required, bind at center rudder), it's a piece of cake.

OK 1st up cheers for the heads up. Ened up with the following GP 750 with a Align ds 620 $ 187.84 US. Cylic servos going with the Align ds 610 $ 152.98 US. The fact the ds821 Soectrums where no good kerbed the budget other wise the spartan would of been the choice. No 3d stuff for this black duck yet, so set up should surfice for quite a while
I did grab one of those Align starters so will give you the heads up once it's up and running. Received the Trex last friday, man there are some parts, I don't think there are two things bolted together. At least I will know, that all is lock tite. I haven't seen the 600 pro with a white cannopy before, I have questioned the seller I was under the inpression it was going to be yellow.

Sounds good. But here's the deal with parts that are put together... if they're put together they're only that way to show you how they assemble. So, either way, you have to build the kit and use the appropriate threadlock. I believe you're going to need green, blue, and red threadlock for this build. Green for metal to plastic, blue for most metal to metal, and red for critical engine assemblies. I've never built a nitro, but if it were me, I'd threadlock every single screw and nut that isn't nylock.

Default RE: Trex 600 gyro ?

You'll really only need the blue locktite. I have a 600nitro Pro and there is nothing in the assembly that needs the permanent stuff. As for the metal to plastic parts, everything I have read says NOT to use any kind of locktite on plastic as it causes a chemical reaction and makes the plastic brittle. The instructions recommend CA as threadlock on the metal parts that go into plastic which is only the balls into the control arms, etc. Bearings get Shoe Goo to keep them from spinning in the races. By the way, the kit comes with a small bottle of R43 and R48 locktite. The R43 is the same as blue or medium strength and the R48 is the permanent stuff. I suggest going over to HeliFreak and watching the Finless build vids for the 600n. Everything you need to know is in those vids. I built mine just from the vids, really never used the manual except for parts reference. Alan

Cheers to all for the info, the Finless vid's are awesome. I am half way through the build and loving it. The align starter turned up, as always looks to be good stuff, will let you know when we krank the os 50 over. Have ordered an adapter for plane props, so we can give this thing a run for it money. ........ Brian

If you haven't bought one already...the gy401 is a great servo...you can find them used for about 80 bucks shipped...around 120 with the 9254 servo... Just a thought

the other servos are great...but are you good enough to see the difference?

Ok this w end building. Nothing else on the cards so heres whats going in the beast : align RCE-B6T 2in1 voltage reg and ignition
: align 18c 7.4 1900mah Lipo power supply
: align RCE-G600 governor
All above came with the combo package
: Align GP 750 gyro and DS 620 servo
: Align DS 610 servo x 3 collective servo's
: Hitec HS-422 to throlte
The sparton gyro would of been the choice, but having to buy collective servo's which was unexpected expense blew the budget on that one.
I am also upgrading the screws with one of these kits http://www.rcbits.com.au/content/rcs...less-screw-kit
One of the guys at the club put me on to them. Probally not as much a problem of stripping screw heads on the 600 but I am also have a replacement kit for my 450 pro. Have had problems with stripping heads when working on it so while I am building and at a cost of only $ 36.95 AU seems a good option.
