Default Trex 450 Sport First Hover!!

I've upgraded from the CP to the Trex 450 Sport and put the first hover on the bird yesterday. I realy like the way it feals and the tail is locked on solid with no drift. I think I'll actually be able to start realy learning now!!

Gyro was a little tricky to figure out but thanks to the guys at the field it was no probs</p>

Yep,
Much better bird. I'm also waiting on batts. Seems like every one is out of stock on the 450 batts right now.

Might be time for me to get one !! My old 450 V1/V2 real tired, & I've heard nothing but good things about the new sport. Let us all know how it keeps going as your flying progresses

I'm using the 72 band reciever and have been getting some glitching. I've done the tail boom ground mod and moved stuf around but don't know if I'm making any progress. Has anyone had issues with the 72 band on smaller heli's?

I love my 450 Sport, and I'm still using the 72MHz band. I haven't seen any glitches (and I'm not currently grounding my tail boom).

I'm using this antenna:

and this RX:

Just ordered from Helidirect.com today. They have NRG batts for about $50 and they charge at 5C and discharge at 35C continuous. Buy, yeah, much better bird than the Axe CP I learned on.

Thanks for the links dk. I'll order the whip antenna and see how it goes. I'm using the Hitec Neon 6. I've heard that the newer gyros don't like to run on FM. I don't know if the GP750 is that way or not, but the instructions on the Futaba GY-520 say not to use FM. It says recomended for PCM or 2.4 only. I put a G3 reciever in to see what would happen and I hovered it for about 3 minutes with no glitching. But the 14 channel reciever is way big for the heli. The Hitec fits right in the slot. Are you guys using the GP750?

Pilot, Congrats!! I got a couple of Turnigy's on the way when Hobby King got them in stock. They are 25c. Hope they work good.

Got in 3 good flights on the Trex today. My forward flight is getting better and I'm starting to use collective on my turns, instead of just stopping and swinging the tail around and coming back. Can't wait to get out again!! I'm going to have to buy more batteries.

Thanks for the photos. Why is there wire wrapped around the deans antenna? Is it for noise reduction?

Wire management. The base of the antenna is at the front of the bird, but it leads back to the receiver. I didn't want the wire to just dangle there, so I secured it to the antenna with some solid wire.

Got a couple more flights on the 450 today. I also put about 6 batteries through the CP and did some hammer head turns with it. The learning curve is coming along.

I see in those photos that you secured the ESC under the battery plate i did the same but it keeps comming loose after a flight of some flips and rolls what did you guys use to secure it there? i used simple velcro..

Thanks.

Only place I could fit it with the short wires!

Scotch fasteners (which hold well, when you have a good surface for it to stick to), and then I wrap a long battery strap around the battery and ESC.

Finally built up the nerve to get the 450 out in forward flight and WOW!! It is 10 times better than the CP. Now I just have to get my thumbs working again! It was a great flight with no mishaps.
