Default HK450GT questions...

I am looking at purchasing this guy...

I had a few questions however.

I see that there is compatibility between the Align 450 heli's and the HK helis... but there were some slight variances between the V2, V1, PRO etc and I am confused...

Which model Align 450 would be the correct series of replacement parts for this helicopter, the 450GT? Where can I find the necessary spare parts in the event of a crash (Feathering shaft, main shaft, blades etc)?

I really think I will like the performance of the all metal and carbon fiber version and the extra $20 cost of the kit is no nig deal... but would I better off buying the standard V2 model?

Also, what do you recommend for servos and running gear? I saw another post about the 450 but it wasn't the GT version. Here is what I was going to be purchasing from Hobby King...

[link=http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9257]Motor, Turnigy Typhoon 450H 2218H Heli Motor[/link]
[link=http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2165]Speed Controller, TURNIGY Plush 40amp Speed Controller[/link]
[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVA43&P=ML]Gyro, Futaba GY401 (Had from an older project, still works great)[/link]
[link=http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8932]Battery, Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack[/link]

So there's all the goodies. Does this seem like a reliable setup?

Default RE: HK450GT questions...

I purchased one of these and a couple of the $27 kits for spares at the same time. My servos/ motor etc. are the same but I am using the cheap HK gyro - it all works OK.

I am not a very experienced heli flier but for me this is a great practice heli. I do own a T-Rex 450SE and the superior quality is very evident - especially when it comes to things like slop in the head etc. Nothing that can't be sorted out with a bit of TLC (or Align parts).

The HK450 at that price will do me just fine. HK seem to have spares in stock most of the time although I did have to wait a couple of weeks for blades once.

Default RE: HK450GT questions...

It appears you would be buying the equivelent of the Align V2. It has a 4mm feathershaft up 1 mm for the SE/V1.
As far as parts comminality would go, the align main shafts are the same. Feathering shafts should be the same ( make sure you get V2 version) also as well as most of the head parts.
As I own only Algn TREX birds I'm not sure beyond that. Looks like it would make a good first heli. The Gyro I know is good. The servos not sure about, I run HiTech HG65MG's on my 450 cyclic with a Scorpian motor and I need a new ESC. Will probably go with a Castiel Creation ICE 55 amp ESC as per the reccomendation of my local Heli store guru and club VP.
Good luck and let us know how it flys
