Go with the Dx7 if your planning on going nitro in the near future. Will need the 7th Ch for motor Gov. sensor. Wish I did I got a Dx6i good radio no issues but I want to go Nitro so I have to get another radio or do without the Gov function, Anyway,,
As far as kits go check out RC Hover. Great prices & service. Tel Jeremy I refered you if you buy

I bought my Trex 450 Sport Super Combo from HeliDirect

http://www.helidirect.com/align-trex...76-p-13308.hdx

Very quick delivery and service (one part in the kit (from Align) was for a different model, got a new part in days). Note that there is a `Price Match` button, and they didn`t hesitate to match the price referenced by another site. I have bought other things from HeliDirect, and would recommend them.

I have not considered the Pro kit (direct drive tail) in my decision.

I also have the DX7 with the AR6110 receivers. I would consider the AR7000 (7 channel) if I wanted to control lights or landing gear. The DX7 is very eary to program and can handle lots of (20) models. You can copy models and retain previous settings are you try different settings.

I also have the HK 450 clone for practice (a.k.a crash).
