engine cutting out
The last few times I have brought my Trex out to fly I have had the engine cut out for like 1/2 second and then come back. It happens over and over. And I have to land and call it a day. I cannot see where things are going wrong. Does anyone have any ideas.

RE: engine cutting out
What speed controller, motor and battery are you using?
The more info you give us the better answers you will get. |
RE: engine cutting out
It's the Trex 450 XL CCPM. Stock ESC and motor. So thats RCM-BL25T 25A Brushless ESC and 420LF Brushless motor (3200 KV). And for battery I am using the hunder Power Pro Lite 3-Cell 2100 mAh Li-Po.

You need an RF Supression ring a.k.a. Ferrite Ring, available from Radio Shack or from Horizon.
Wrap your ESC to Receiver wire through it. http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo...RPA029-250.jpg Also keep as much distance as possible between your wire going from the ESC to the receiver and the power leads. |
RE: engine cutting out
That sounds like what happens to mine when the battery is almost dead.

That could be a lot of things...try cycle and charge your pack. Dont trickle charge it. Check your motor also some motors burnt out from contineous used. I give my motor time to cool down before i use it again. Which takes a while. Thats why i got me another trex so i can interchange them between charges..Also move your receiver as far from your motor as possible.

This thing has had like maybe 7 or 8 flights on it. And the battery is charged up prior to flight. I willl try out the ferrite ring. see if that helps.

Almost certainly radio interference. Do what everybody suggested re keeping ESC&Motor as far from receiver & ant as possible--Also carefully check that no bare metal wire on the ant touches the frame, and that there is no play (up & down) on the entire drive shaft & the upper part of the head (if it's metal).
Also be sure the Batt & motor are OK, but it does sound like interference. I had the same problem. Lloyd |
