Well, I found an answer to my question about the quality of the components in this package, I should have read more of the other posts first. I'm still curious about the second alternative I listed below. - end edit-

I'm curious what the experienced T-Rex folks think of this package. Particularly the electronics. Will those servos cut it, will the esc cut it, is the gyro worthwhile or should I just get a bare kit and buy my parts seperately? I'm still fiddling with my Blade CP but am finding that it's not really that stable unless everything's perfect; after buying my second main gear/shaft that was slightly out of alignment out of the bag... It's fun and great and cheap enough to get folks into the hobby but since I know I'm going further and plan to fly some electric planes as well I figure it's time to look at more serious gear.

Alternatively I priced out a 450xl cde with JR gear and a futaba 240 gyro (JR xp6102 radio) for $641 The other gear was 4xS241 servos and an R610UL receiver, which was what Helihobby had packaged as a JR micro heli kit for $240 and seemed reasonable.
If the futaba isn't happy being used with the JR gear I could swap it out for the JR PG 400T.

If that's not a good package, or someone knows of a better one or has suggestions for seperates choices I'm all ears, err, eyes. I'd like to keep it under $1k including two or three batteries and a decent charger.

My skill level is just past newbie but I'm still working on hovering tail rotor helis confidently. Building skills are good, I used to race lightweights and touring cars so I'm used to having to adjust everything just so for good performance. I'm also aware that these so called RTF Trex kits are really just prettier out of the box, you pretty much have to tear it down and put it back together, so a straight up kit is fine.
