Which TX?
 

IM looking into buying a trex 450 xl and need some suggestions on a TX.

these are the ones i'm looking at,

1. Futaba 7chp
2. Jr7202
3. Spectrum DX7

what will be best or of greatest value?

I'm using the DX6 - if you can afford the DX7 then go for it, but so far I like the DX6 a lot.

you wont be able to use the servos that come with the dx7 but you can easily sell them. The AR7000 rx, however, is great and I have not had any problems with it

I run the JR 7202, would have gone Futaba, or DX7, but at the time I needed to get everything setup only the JR was avail. Only problem with running the JR is not a lot of others have the JR radios, so advice is hard to come by.

The ability to turn on your radio and fly without fear of shooting or getting shot down...priceless.

Well said, you couldn't give me a non-spektrum system because at some point your going to get Glitched.
You should consider what you need for options as well, I love my DX6 because it's simple, I only need 3 switches-normal/idle up, throttle hold and expo on/off. Heading hold on/off is never used anyways. I can't tell you how many times I have seen someone crash and burn because they hit the wrong switch. Im using my DX6 for 3D and it works fine, at some point I will upgrade to the DX7 but my DX6 does everthing I need it to do.

Well, if you're using a DX6... the first time you fly a DX7 you'll be amazed at how much better the feel is. Yes, the DX6 does work fine... but the DX7 is vastly better, and is much better value despite the higher price.

That is what I have heard, I wish the DX7 came out a year ago, I would have jumped on it.

I just bought a Futaba 9CHP off ebay brand new. Love the menu, and 16 model memory. Now that spektrum is making a Spektrum module for this I'll be all set, but so far PCM is working glitch free.

i think im still gonna get a dx7 because it just fits my price range. parents say i gotta key the whole setup under 900 or 1000 maximum.

AirforceRcks I myself would not buy amy of DX'S. Look the main piont how you see your self in this hobby more few years? To stay with these small heli like rex OR one day you will want to move forward to 90 choppres. If you think to move forward DX7 will not let you do it. Therefore I think the best idea is buy new r/c system that will open you all the doors. I have JR PCM 8CH for some years and
yesterday I order new system JR 9303 9CH. I thought a lot what to buy. First I have some choppres and all the RX are JR. I used futaba (9ch) sorry to all futaba men I didn't like her. Anyhow JR come to the market (on the of 2006) with new program inside their 9303. They made some change in 140 ccpm and I read a lot of excelent comments - The new 9303 (with 140 ccpm) there isn't any interaction during collective movement. So make your choice But as I said: If you thing about 50/90 choppres don't waste your money with DX7.

i dont think i will ever go nitro because of the inconvience of not being able to fly at local parks of in my yards. so the DX7 is probably for me.

Hate to disagree, but this is totally incorrect info... Of course you could fly a .90 heli with a DX7. It would work just fine.... Of course, if you're going balls-out and spend many thousands of dollars on the hobby, you would likely want a higher end radio, but there is no reason why you couldn't use the DX7 with a big glow heli...

I agree with you CT,

afterall in a couple years Spektrum will probably come out with a radio equal to any high end rig out there..only you'll be able to fly without being shot down:D

ct420 you don't have to agree with me. This is my opinion. Any DX'S system are compromise, they will never suitable for big 90 nitro choppers, if you are looking for accurate flight. Look around the wrold and see that most 90 plots never use those system.

ct420 YES I did mean that the best choice for a larger heli is one of system I mention. I use pcm JR 8ch system and I doubt a lot what next system will be? I thought about JR 1OX, but after I compare the manual instruction between JR 10X & 9303 I decide to buy thte 9ch 9303 - my second system. There are 2 thing that catach my eye 1) NO MORE laitum battery for memory - 9303 has flah memory.
2) The NEW 140 ccpm program.
