Brushed T-Rex?
 

Hi All

I just scored a complete airframe of a 450X i think it is for very cheap, im going to kit it out myself, i have some crappy little fixed pitch helis to raid parts from but i fear the gyro's will be useless to me ?? they feed off to a mixer for the tailmotor etc.

has anyone flown a trex with a brushed motor ? whats a good KV to start with bearing in mind i just want to do FF flight and turns and stuff, no 3d at this stage

Align 430L (3550kv)...inexpensive and so far bullit proof. If you get an Align ESC try to get the 35a X model and the Align telebee gyro has done really well as a budget gyro.

Why brushed? There are many low cost brushless motors out there that work just fine.
I recently bought a new Danlions Pulso KA450H for $25 plus $5 shipping from Ebay.

I just bought this same motor from ebay and it's a really great little motor, especially for $30 shipped.

The real question is " Are you willing to crash a $200 helicopter when the brushes fail to save $30 right now", I have dealt with brushed motors and the interference they cause when learning on the walkera heli's, Never again. If you can afford a trex spend the extra $30 and go brushless.

Putting a brushed motor in a T-REX would be comparible to putting a 5hp lawnmower engine in a Porsche... I mean, what's the point???

point being i just want to do a bit of hovering and forward flight to get used to the new heli, and my LHS is completely hopeless and only just knows what BL is, its mainly an availability thing

Do yourself a favor and get the brushless motor from align, or something equivilent. A brushed motor is a complete waste of time and money on a trex. Brushed motors will wear down fast and provide nowhere near as much power, plus your packs will drain faster. If your LHS doesnt have any brushless heli motors, purchase online.

a brushless motor can hover and do simple FF why not save money in the long run, a brushed motor really isnt much cheaper anyway.
