First Post - Locking for thread lock advice
Everyone,
This is my very first post. I'm pretty new to the Heli thing and after learning to fly a little on some smaller Heli's I've decided to try a V2. I'm just starting my build and I had a question about thread lockers. What thread locker seems to work out the best on the "screw to aluminum" bits? The green stuff that came in the kit looks a but like Loctite 290 which I thought was a bear to take apart later. I'm not sure what grade the other stuff is and I thought that I read that Loctite makes a special blend for steel to aluminum parts. Can anyone make a recomendation? I Hope this isnt a stupid question. I tried the searches but didnt find my answer. Thanks for reading and whish me luck!! -Eric |
RE: First Post - Locking for thread lock advice
The kit should have blue and green threadlock. Green is used for seating the bearing in the metal holders, to keep outer race from spinning. The blue should be used on everything else.
I use the Blue (loctite 242) on everything and it works fine. The only one to watch out for is do not use the Red stuff, unless it is a part which never has to come apart again. Also dont use treadlock on platic parts, if you need to use CA or super glue for those. I have not had to use any kind of thread lock on the plastic screws because they are self tapping, and do not back out with vibration. Pete |
