reprogramming Align esc.

How do I reprogram my Align RCE-BL25X/35X esc.It says to place the throttle stick to the highest position, switch on the transmitter, then connect the battery to the esc.If I do this won't the motor take off at full throttle as soon as I plug the battery into the esc.since the throttle stick is at the highest position?Should I disconnect the motor wires?

The beep sounds are actually produced by the motor, it acts as a speaker for the ESC. So if you disconnect the motor you will not be able to program the ESC. Instead, remove the pinion gear, and that way there will not be any danger.

Be safe!

The motor won't go into run mode unless you are at full low throttle anyway, so it won't matter. But yeah, removing the pinion or moving the motor away from the main gear never hurts.

The stick must be at full throttle.
The motor won't go to full throttle.
The throttle hold must be OFF.
Plug in teh battery.
The ESC will go to setup mode.
Do you setup.
Place the throttle stick to teh lowest position.
Unplug the battery
Check your settings. My ESC sometimes does not accept settings or does it's own thing. Repeat as neccessary and wait for Phenix 35 to arrive.

Watch the videos from "Finless" on Helifreak.com, he walks you through each step it is very helpful.

I always just unplug one of the three wires leading to the motor as a safety precaution when programming. With only two wires connected, you still get the beeps, but the motor won't turn if for some reason the ESC decides to power it up...

I didn't know that! Good tip!

That's not true. The motor can still turn with 2 wires.

Well, technically, yes... It will still try to turn, but with VERY little power. It will not have enough power to do any damage to anything. It doesn't even have enough power to spin the head 1 full revolution. It will just 'push' on it slightly...
