This may be a weird question but I'm wondering how much payload I can put on a typical T-REX 450 sized electric and sill have it able to fly reasonably well. I don't own one, I'm currently just doing a little research for a potential project.

Well, the 450 would definitely not be considered a PAYLOAD craft.. as some crafts are designed to accommodate extra load, stock.

That being said, with the right motor.esc.battery selection, you can probably carry a great deal. 4s 25c FP with a hacker motor for example, will carry WAY more then an align battery with stock align motor.

You need to decide what you want to carry, how much it will way, and choice the heli and parts that are appropriate. Just becuase it will lift, doesnt mean it wont over heat, puff, and die after a few flights, or even minutes. Potentially destroying your payload.

Also if you payload happens to be a camera, the steadiness of the craft in wind gusts and such will also be an issue.

What are you trying to lift?? I assume you could lift 150 - 400 grams depending on the setup. But in no way more then a pound safely.

And also, just because it lifts off, doesnt mean it can pull out of a drop.... so if you loose it for a sec, it might hit the deck.
