Flying at an angle

Had a 450SE V2 for 5 weeks now and after 67 flights, nearly 14 hours, no shunts apart from a belt seizing am starting to settle down. Now I am able to relax a little I have noticed that although the hover is very stable the heli sits at an angle of about 2 degrees down to the right veiwed from the tail. I noticed this as the house is in front of me and either that is built on the tilt (lol) or something is wrong. No wind issues btw.
Any of you experts know what I have done wrong please?

Nothing is wrong. The tail rotor is blowing the helicopter sideways, it has to lean into it a bit. The phenomenon is called translating tendency. Even the full scale ones do it (though most big ones lean left)

And the full scale North American birds lean left because they turn counter-clockwise, while the full scale European helis lean right because they turn clockwise.

That's fantastic, thanks a lot guys, I have been worrying about it for a few days now, it makes a lot of sense when I think about it, thanks again.

Remember the laws of physics that for every action there is a reaction somewhere else?

As BH said, the tail rotor is blowing air sideways, and nothing to counteract that force, so the whole heli needs to tilt a bit the other way to counteract the tail forces. All RC models do that. Full scale helis have the angle built into the fuselage or main shaft, and mostly hover with a horizontal fusealge, but if you look at the blades, they will show the tilt.

It's very interesting actually, I have noticed all along that I am have been holding the Tx at the same angle and could not figure why, also when I look at vids and photo's my partner took the disc always did look tilted. What didn't help was the fact I got a blade for my partner so I could talk her into letting me get a 600 e cos I'm hooked now. Of course the Blade does not suffer for obvious reasons!

Great question! It’s been on my mind as well. Thanks for the info!![sm=thumbs_up.gif]
