Maximize Flight Time

Hi, Just wondering how can I maximize the flight time on my Trex 450. My motor arrived dead, so I managed to changed it with my LHS but was given a 3150Kv align motor as he does not have stock for the 3550Kv model. Was told it will work as well.

I am running it with a 15T pinion, and a 2100Mah 22C align battery. Any idea how I can make the flight last longer? Will a higher Kv motor with a 11T pinion work? or is it just a battery thing?

RE: Maximize Flight Time

Okay two things jump out at me:

1. The T-Rex stock motor is a 430L - 3550kv and the upgrade is 430XL - 3700kv. The upgrade increases headspeed and efficiency. The 3150kv will lower headspeed and make it less efficient as well, thus the need for the 15T pinion. The other motors I listed run very good on 13T for a good combination of headspeed and run time.

2. Flight Time depends greatly on flight style. One thing I do know is this. When I run my 450SA at 100 across the throttle curves my run times are about a 2 to 3 minutes longer than running 100 80 100 throttle where the run time is 5 minutes.

You never want to run your battery below 80% of available mAH. In your case you never want to put back more than 1760mAH, if you do risk overdischarging and destroying the battery.
