Trex 450 Pro build

I decided to get the trex 450 pro as my next project. I just placed the order and it should receive within a 3-5 days. I got the kit version (no servos, no gyro).

equipment I plan to use:

trex 450 pro kit (stock motor, and esc)
hitec hs5065 on cyclic
align gp750 gyro with mks 8910 (not sure about the gyro, may also go with spartan ds760)
ar6110 receiver

I will post pictures as I build it.

Many thanksto Chiem@ flyhelirus.com for the great deal.

Outstanding, T! I'm excited for you, man. Other than the early torque tube issues (which have been fixed), I've only read good things about the helicopter! Should be a fun, quick, build! Congratulations!

Scott

thanks Scott, I'm very excited. I got tired of my v2. I also dont want to deal with belts or the double stacked frames anymore.

I just checked out your video on the hurri 550. Looks awesome btw. Does it feel much bigger than your trex500?

RE: Trex 450 Pro build

I'm sure you'll really enjoy the 450 pro. When Iget more experienced, I'm thinking I'll get something smaller so I can perhaps fly a little in my back yard. Right now, I'm afraid to try anything than what you've seen because of the proximity to houses/trees. Let us know when your kit arrives... Your opinion is valuable, bro!

Tenatively, yes. It'sa new framein that video, Head Hunter Heli, and that was the genuine first time that frame has been off the ground. I know the plastic frames felt bigger, but they were sluggish in comparison. The new frame doesn't feel sluggish at all. I did a couple of cyclic pumps and it felt just as quick as the 500. The pitch pumps in idle 2 were as quick. Iknow more when I actually try to do something other than hover. The plastic frame was definitely easier to fly.

Scott

it sounds really impressive scott. I've decided to stay within align brand of helicopters for a while. part supports is really great. No more clones either, I really do see the difference now.

I just cant wait to start my build. i'm using this to train for 3D. it should perform really well in this aspect.:D

Very cool, T! I'd have stuck with Align too if my wife hadn't bought me that 425 kit at IRCHA. :)

You're gonna be a great 3D pilot, T!

Congrates on the pro you won't be disapointed. As for the gp750 I am running one on my pro have found it hard to get it just right. And I noticed the other day when I punch out realy hard it wasn't holding the tail so I think it's time to play with it a bit more. Had been flying the basics getting a bit more adventurous, so it had gone unchecked.
I am thinking of going to a spartan as the reveiws I have heard are all good , it will cost a little more but the proof will be in the pudding set up align ds 410m cyclic gp 750+ds 510 tail

Thanks Basman. I'm looking forward to the build.:) It looks like my package is in transit via fedex ground and is scheduled to be delivered on nov. 11.

I just went to my LHS to buy the cyclic servos I will be using on this build. the hs5065mg's. man are they pricey at 46.99 each[X(]

In addition Kevin of Hobbymate is sending me some goodies to try out. I'll be trying out their brand new 4000kv brushless motor and a new gyro with a new 40a esc. [8D] Thank you Kevin.

and now the waiting game till my package arrives.[&:]

Just out of curiosity, what don't you like about belts and stacked frames. I'm currently deciding between the v2 and the pro.

single sided frames are more riigid, Less prone to harmonic vibrations, less parts to brake. Advantages of the torque tube is increased performance. power delivery to the tail is more efficient than the belt.(less friction) thus making the power more useful elsewhere.

RE: Trex 450 Pro build

Hey noobflyer01
how's the build going ? Quick note in the instructions they give two spots to put the esc. 1. under the battery mount 2. on the Right side of the frame.
I tried the first option and for obivious reasons moved it too the right side of the frame. It fitted in there but I was told it keeps it cooler out there in the open, sounds pretty basic when you think about it but a trap for young players. I run with spectrum receiver ar 7000, there's enough length on the remote antena to mount the receiver on the left side then run the cable through to the right and mount the antena works well.
Could you let me know your set up on the gp750 once you have yours installed. I am running it on the gear channel have it around about 48% it would be good to hear another set up to compair...........cheers

RE: Trex 450 Pro build

this build is much more difficult than I thought. first, you have to install the motor and mesh before you install the servos otherwise you cant reach the motor screws. The elevator servo install is difficult as well because the way you mount the servo. the holes dont line up with the hs5065mg's on the mount. I have to enlarge the center mount holes on the servos so it doesnt pinch against the mount. I will also need to dremel the anti-rotation bracket so the elevator arm doesnt rub. So be aware that if you are going to use the hs5065mg or hs65mg's on this heli you will need to do some minor modding. I dont have my tools with me at my weekend home so this build wont be completed until Friday.
I will finish the tail assembly and work on the servo install later.

Thanks. What about tail strikes with gears vs. belt. I've heard the belt is more forgiving.
