Default Magnum 52 XLS

12,500 on an APC 12x5
Swithed to a APC 13x4W 11,500 (11,000 with bison muffler tubes pinched a little)

This is on a Bisson Pitts muffler. It wasn't drawing fuel good enough so I pinched the exhaust tubes a little. Improve fuel flow but lowered the RPMs to about 11000.

4 tanks thru it and it transitions well already.

APC 10x6 = 14800rpm (suggested break-in prop)
APc 12.25x3.75 = 13700rpm

All with 10% Omega and A3 OS plug.

It pulls harder than my OS.50sx for 74.00's less.

What a deal,
Dave

Ok I have for a while thought the 52 xls is a piece of crap. It was for me anyway. I finally got it running great today when I put my carb and metering block from my 46ax on it. Now it runs like an OS. I would only buy one again "if" I had another carb and metering block ready for it.

PS - I couldn't EDIT my post above for some reason.

Thats what I did to mine also used a carb from a 46FX and now the engine runs like a OS and has gobs of power .i'm going to tear the magnum carb down and do some measureing and see what the difs are ,a person may be able to improve the stock carb to run good .Mine wouldnt transition well and the result was a flame out about half the time ,and it didn't seem to matter how it was adjusted.

Well I flew it today and the magnum 52 with the 46ax carb and metering block worked perfectly. The pullout from a hover is fantastic. The throttle response is about the same as the 46ax was with a 12x4. As we all know the 12x4 APC rev's much faster than the 12.25x3.75 APC which is what is on the magnum hybrid. It actually accelerates kinda fast from a hover and I would have to guess can hit 30 to 35 mph climbing from a hover in a 100 feet or so. My ax was so tired it would barely pull out at all anymore.

Finally happy and it took 2 freak'in years,
Dave
