Sean, is the ys110 more powerfull than the saito 150? (without mufler)

Thaks very much.

Jose Roberto Ribeiro
My YS 1.10FZ on my Funtana S 90 is a little stronger than my friends Saito 150 on his Funtana S 90. We are spinning the same prop, using the same servos and roughly the same battery, but we have never tached them together to check the difference. I have flown his 150 combo and was impressed but I would have to say, the 1.10 has a slight advantage over the 1.50. It spools up the prop faster and runs a little faster on top end but this is only by ear. I'll try to tach his to get an exact number for you. As I mentioned, it does spool up the same prop faster. We both have been stating that we need a 17x6, but ground clearance would be a problem unless we get taller gear. He flys his 150 a lot more than I fly my 1.10, but the 1.10 is still slightly stronger. It may get even stronger the more I fly mine.

I think on 20/20 fuel, Saito 150 should not be weaker than YS 110. On 30% heli fuel, I think YS 110 will start to pull away. Also, YS 110 is lighter, so that's the definite advantage. It's also cheaper too.

YS 110-S

10100 rpm on Youngblood 30% heli fuel, exhaust baffel removed and Evolution 16x6 prop with a 2.5"spinner.

This combo measured 16lbs 8oz of thrust with a digital fish gauge, I am going to try a APC 16x4W next.

That is around 2.6 - 2.8 horsepower...

So I tried a APC 16x4W and it spun 10,800 but only produced 16lbs 10oz or 2 ounces more than the 16x6.
So the 16x4W is very inefficent and 10mph slower than the 16x6.

The bottom line is the YS 110-S rocks

Okay ... after about a gallong my YS110 is really performing, here are the new figures:

YS110
Fuel: 30% Cool Power (heli)
Prop: APC 16x6
NO muffler

Peak: 10,300 RPM

YS110
Fuel: 30% Cool Power (heli)
Prop: APC 16x6
WITH muffler

Peak: 10,000 RPM

I run it at 9,750 RPM. I find that the engine performance is lousy if it is peaking at 9,300-9,500 on the ground. YS support forum recommends running at 10,000 RPM and I see some truth in it. My engine is running at only about 210F-220F after flying her semi hard, not too hard. Hence, the engine temp is very good.

Tomorrow I will be trying out the APC 17x6, shall give you all the figures.

Build - I am not buying any more Saitos ... YS may cost more but its worth every dime!!! I ordered a YS160 after this one. Saw a YS63 perform too ... sweet as heck. YS engines are the way to go. My TT120 2C gives about the same max RPM as the YS110!

Nice thread, has lots of data for new YS110 owners. Are you still running this engine without the exhaust baffle? Though you are getting more RPM, I wonder how the lower back pressure affects the engine? Obviously there will be a bit more wear and tear running higher RPM but don't think it will be that critical regarding the life span of the engine.

Is yours running reliable?

Thanks.

There is no back pressure in YS engines. Its crankcase supercharged, so you can use them even without a header pipe.

I doubt it, also the oil content will be to low.[X(] The recommended fuel is 20/20.

(FWIW)I have a YS120sc and it appears The 120 still has a bit of extra oomph over the Newer 1.10s I'm getting 9000 rpm from a Ma 18-6 wide classic on 30 % 7500 with an 18-8 wood prop.Your 110s get the weight advantage tho. I'm waiting for the new 1.15 to come out .Sounds perfect for my upcoming Kyosho Kelly

No problem, I have flow my YS 110 many flights on 0% (straight) fuel just to try it. Once tuned/adjusted for the fuel it ran fine, although less power of course. Both me and a friend feed our YS`s 15/15 fuel for the most part and they run great. I guess 10% nitro will be no different. To get the most out of it (if you need it) 30/20 fuel is the best
