The engine seems to do well with it, it sounds great in the air and gives a nice scale flight speed in the GP 1/5 scale Chipmunk. I should mention the engine has about four gallons thru it. I am using a Cline regulator and back it down about 100 rpm to fly. At this time there are no baffles in the cowl. In fact the only cooling air is coming thru the opening made to clear the cylinder head, the scale openings are closed off with clear plastic sheet.

This is the max size prop I would recommend and proper cooling is a must. I have been thinking of casting a duct starting from the opening I made extending to the aft of the cylinder to insure all the air coming in goes thru as much fin area as possible.

Very cool, I'll have to break down and buy a plane for mine. I could pull my MDS 1.48 Diesel off of my UltraStick Lite to try the 1.55. The MDS turns a 16x8 three blade at 9,000 so the 1.55 would probably not match its performance but would be more than adequate. Is your 1.55 still limbering up or has it peaked?

I think the engine is at about peak, it took close to three gallons of 10/18 running a APC 16X6 before it would run to where I didn't think it would melt. It seemed to run hot but I never measured the head temp.

This Enya came from a regular Ultra Stick that was given to me by a friend, I guess he should be my best friend. It had plenty of power on 5% and better power on 10% for fun flying. At 14lbs it was no 3D queen, no hovering.

You might want to consider making a stack of sorts for the intake, mine seemed to about double the fuel mileage and keeps the plane clean. The other thing I did was pipe the breather to the exhaust outlet. That really keeps the trash off the plane.

The APC 17X6 prop gave between 8800-9000 on 10% nitro and did provide more thrust, I think. It is probably the best overall prop for the engine.

It's funny how a plane responds to a different prop at a different rpm. I like the down lines and lomcevoks with the 18X6. Tail slides don't sound as cool but they still look cool with smoke! I have to get a picture!

Are you running the smoke pump with a transmitter batt and does it simply switch on and off or is there a valve too? Are you still using the stock muffler? Thanks. Lottsa questions I know.

The smoke pump is running off the 6 volt 2150 nimh receiver battery, the pump works off a GWS ICS 50 esc that is installed in place of the stock on-off-reverse-on switch and filter caps were soldered to the motor can. I mix the throttle to the esc, smoke starts to come on just above high idle and goes to about 45% at full throttle for best smoke with the least oil. The pump at 6 volts would pump about 18 oz at full unrestricted flow. The smoke oil flows thru two .014 drill holes.

The stock muffler was too loud for me, the current muffler is a lawn mower muffler but my last homemade muffler smoked better and had a better exhaust note. Now the engine sounds like a B&S.

I finally got started on mine. The wings are done, spar done,servo tray done, landing gear and pants etc 1/2 done. Not bad for 2 evenings. This plane builds easily. I built their 1/4 scale Giles and that built easy and fast also. Still fly it. Thinking of a bigger engine in it. Poulan 42. Then take the MVVS 1.6 out of the giles and put in the Chipmunk since it would fit better. I can make a Poulan 42 fit in the Chippy but I don't think I want to hack up the cowl that much. Also have a FPE 2.4 that needs a home. HHMMMMMM Decisions decisions .....................

Sky pilot one, I forgot to ask, how is the home made smoke system holding up? I have the Sullivan Skywriter and it works nice, just a little pricey. I like the idea it uses it's own battery. Doesn't drain the reciever's battery. Just a little self assurance

Brian, I ran the 1.55 for about an hour and a half today, first with a Granpner 15x8 three blade and second with a Masterairscrew Classic 16x6.

Fuel-- WildCat Premium Extra 10% with 18% 80/20 lube

Those look like very good numbers. I liked the APC 17X6, about 8800 rpm on Byron 10%. The APC 18X6 spins about the same rpm as the Graupner. I bet the Graupner sounds cool.

I think I may switch to Wildcat fuel to see how it compares.

Do you have any APC props to run on this engine? They are a good standard for comparison. The MA 16X6 is a bit small for this engine.

Brian, i never fly APCs so I'm hesitant to buy them, I keep a very few for testing, the largest a 14x12 for the Webra P5. I do have a Mejzlik 16x8 though.

Tore the engine down to replace the bearings, the ring still has the machine marks on it.

Replace the bearings? I have some Enya 4strokers that are over 20 years old and the bearings are fine! I believe they are stainless steel. My 1.55 turns a 16-8 Zinger Pro at 8,600.
Only has about 2 hours running time.

The 155 doesn't have stainless bearings and the set in mine were supplied for free by MRC under warranty.

OOPS! I just checked my post and some gremlin slipped a 1 in front of the 8! Should read 8,600 rpm! Might be of interest, a 17-6 wide blade APC only turns 7.800 but pulls the Rascal 110 vertical much better than the 16-8 ProZinger! I also checked my 90 (oldest of all my Enya's- 20 yrs!), and the balls are bright and shiney, no spot of rust! That led me to believe they were SS. In any event, Enya builds a heck of an engine!

I've been breaking in my Enya 155R over the last couple days and after a couple gallons this is what I'm getting on Cooper's 10% fuel, Sonic tronics 4 cycle plug at about 50 degrees temp:

APC 16x8: 8940 steady
APC 17x6: 9150 steady
Top Flight 18x6: 8100 steady

What a sweetheart engine, It responds the best (IMO) with the 17x6 APC. I did run some 15% through it and the needle became very sensitive and erratic at high rpms with no gain in power. 5% on the 17x6 was friendly and tach'd at 9020 rpms.

You will love this engine! I have one in a Rascal 110 and it's a pleasure to fly, although not a 3D acro. After 6 gallons mine turns a 16-8 pro Zinger at the same RPM as yours. The APC 17-6 turns up more now but the aircraft performs better with the 16-8. Wildcat 10% - 18% oil (castor/Synth.) mix. I have been flying Enya 4S engines since 1984 and find them user friendly and practically bullet proof. Works for me!

Are any of the airframes attached to this engine weigh 18 Lbs? I recently got my 155R and it is going in a 18lb. Mustang.... Any opinions, will it pull harder that the Saito 200 Inline Twin that was in it?
