Default Will a Hobby R/C tach do the real deal?

Hi,

My dad owns a plane and wants to buy a digital tachometer. I saw some at a LHS and they were pretty cheap. He wants to use it on our full size PA-38 Tomahawk. Would it work?

Thanks

Sure will. The tach doesn't care what it is looking at. It looks for the prop interrupting the light coming in. They have a fairly narrow field of view so you might need to be back as "scale" distances to get a good reading.

Thanks Desertskymodels I've been waiting for a reply on my post. I have seen two types, the ones that you look through and the other that you point at the prop and a read out is displayed on the LCD.
