Default YS120ac numbers AND speed!!

here is some numbers I tached today- 92° outside, 30% Coolpwer Heli fuel, OS F glowplug, YS 120ac mounted on a Goldberg Ultimate bipe ,10lbs,6 oz.
APC 16x8 9200 rpm- as an added bonus , top mph was 88 verified by local police with in car radar.
Swapped to a APC 16x10, rpm dropped to 8800, top mph was 99. This is with no cowling or canopy attached to the plane AND,... all with flying INTO a 12mph head wind while the police was clocking me. The lowest speed with the 16x8 was about 72mph and the lowest with the 16x10 was 90mph. That plane is MOVING!!! [sm=thumbs_up.gif]
Thanks,
John

I sure wish I had a good video camera krayzc, but I dont
Tomorrow after I get home from work I think Im going to try and mount the apc 15x10 and get some tach readings and I will post the results- I wont be able to fly it with the 15x10 until this coming weekend tho,.... hopefully it will be a little faster than the 16x10?

You should hear this thing as I am making a hi-speed run down the runway at about 15 foot off the ground! I call it "coming downtown" as I am banking to turn toward the runway to do a hi-speed run. I'll holler out: Im coming downtown" to others who are out at the field .
There is (I guess) a hi pressure wave of air the just proceeds the plane, and as the plane approaches me, it is the coolest thing to hear,... and Im partially deaf,... and some say even dumb, lol. Im just hoping that the tailfeathers stays together on this thing. I may need to go and do a little bracing from the hoz stab to the vertical fin for good measure. Boy,I sure wish I had a video camera!! Maybe I can con on of my good flying buddies to bring theirs this coming weekend to shoot a clip or two?

6-24-2008 more testing .....15x10 apc ,rpms 9650 - this engine sounds SWEET with this prop!! Spool up is instantanious. I just hope its going to give me just a little more speed than with the 16x10 that was turning at 8800, but not quite enough to rip this plane to pieces, lol. [sm=drowning.gif]
Everything except the tailfeathers have been braced and glued well- wing joints have been fiberglassed well also.

My YS 1.10S powered RV-4 really rips too. I am spinning a APC 15-8 @ 10,300+ peaked, backed off to 10,000 on WC 20/20. It hauls the mail in every direction. I have totally unlimited vertical from a 8-10' takeoff run. I have been turned down a couple times by club members with DA powered aerobatic planes for a vertical drag race. No body wants to race it.

Motor, thats what I like to hear!![sm=thumbup.gif] Your plane looks great! Any idea of its top speed and what do you think it
( your plane ) weighs? And the 15x8, is that the prop you settled on with this plane or did you try several other sizes yet?

The plane weighs 10 lb's, and I estimate the top speed to be about 110 mph. The S model 1.10 puts out equal HP to the AC. It just has the powerband about 500 rpm higher and is lighter. The 15-8 seams to be the ideal match so far. I would rather let it rev a little than load it down to much.
