G-62 TACH READINGS?

I did a search and didn't find anything so here is the question...I have a g-62 running a Zinger 22x6-10 prop using the stock magneto. what should the high and idle RPM's be? I am getting 6800 on the high end.

I recently turned the carb stack around (high end to the rear) and went to 87 octane gas. the new readings are 7200. much better.

depends on which muffler you use, I use a stock steel muffler with a 1 1/4" outlet tube and have seen +1000 rpm readings over some pitts style mufflers.

RE: G-62 TACH READINGS?

I am running a 62 with the big stock dual output muffler...not the little old one. Ch Jump Start, Zenoah oil 32:1 , Biela CF Prop 22x8 , 7000rpm. Pulls a 17.5 lb Ultimate vertical...sustained but blistering fast.

Forget the Zinger props...way too much drag. I was running a 20 8x14 Zinger and got 6200, the biela woke it up. The Zingers have their place on these motors..I do use the 20 8x14 for a different model...but not an aerobat.

Remember the Zingers are flexing at torque and that change makes the run-up change too.

Putting on th cowl makes big diff , too. I did a little experimenting and found I needed to make a hole in the cowl for the carb to breath. I used a velocity stack to get it outside the cowl. No change now with the cowl on or off.

I was only getting 5800 with the 20 8x14 until I got it breathing right. ..then 62- 6400.

These motors have to be propped just right. Not like the higher performance motors...you can throw anything at them and get decent readings. Not these GPU style motors...they need the right prop.

Gents:
What difference will I see with a G-62 (on my Byron Corsair) turning a) a TF 22x10 or b) a TF 22x6-10?

THe 6-10 will run up faster.....top speed a little slower.

I think if you got 6800-7200 with the 22x10 TF it would be enough, but it will run up slowly on a steep pull out. the 6-10 might not change RPM in that manuever.

If the corsair weighs more than 17-18 lbs , vertical will be slow, with the right prop.

G62 with stock mag ignition, old gas/oil mix, 3w 22x10 prop, Bennett muffler, 50 degrees, 6750 rpm.
