Borgie, I feel sorry that nobody posted in your thread.[:o] So, I will.:)

I also have one of these. I don't have your prop, but I will tach mine with a MA 12x6 wood.

Dave you silly.
I use this as data storage for future reference , I don't really expect anyone to post a comment.:)

FWIW,
I get 11,200 with 15% Omega and a MAS 12X6 classic prop.

RE: Magnum XL.52FS

Mine ain't broke in yet so I am holding off on anything over 10% nitro. I tried a new Master Airscrew 11X6 3 series (kinda wide blade ) and it did an easy 10,800. Pe gives these a value somewhat higher than the original black props.

Hopefully my "fuel shipment" will arrive soon and if the weather holds I can get some more prop readings.

With my Graupner 10X6 3 blade (yup I gotta love them 3 bladed props, sorry) it gave me a still conservative 11,200 on Omega 10%. I will be trying an MA 12X6 Schimitar next.

I saw you have made a beautiful rig to brake in or test your engine . Can you tell me why the center part of the fuel stopper has to be same hight as the mixture screw ? or does this effect engine performance on small size engine like magnum xls 15 and possibly small vacuum leaks at carburator Cinch bolt and nut?

Just wondering if you ever got the numbers with the Master Airscrew 12x6 Scimitar prop ?

Funny coincidence, I ran mine again today. I'm only using 5% nitro. I got 11,240 with a Graupner 11x6 2-blade. I tried a MA wood 12x6 (yellow tips) and could barely break 9,000.

It didn't like the 12X6 Scimitar at all. It runs much better with the 11X6 MA 3 series. And it runs fantastic on 25% Omega. :) I made certain it was well broke in before trying it and only after I was certain it could handle the extra nitro.

I've been running mine on 10% nitro Magnum fuel with 70/30 synth/castor lubrication, a Fox Miracle glow plug, and a Master Airscrew 12x6 K-series prop. My XL .52 RFS ran just rich of peak power at 10,000 rpms.

Maybe the yellow-tip wood MA's are a higher load:

http://masterairscrew.com/12x6woodseriespropeller.aspx

I will try some other 12x6's and see if I can get nearer 10,000.

The 11,240 I got with the with the Graupner 11x6 calculates to .96hp and 6.19lbs of static thrust. That actually sounds about right for a .52 4-stroke. I don't know why the wood 12x6 is bogging it down so much. Maybe it's a miss-marked 12x8?

And I was thinking it was just me and my MA Scimitar 12X6 . It didn't like that prop at all. But the 12X5 RevUp did well.

I like the APC 12 X 5. It is a completely different design from the APC 12 X 6

RE: Magnum XL.52FS

Tried a Top Flite 12X6 today and it made 9100 rpm. If you run the numbers it made a decent 5.5lbs and 45mph. Still think the MA 11X6 3 series is a better choice. But i need to get it airborne to be certain.

This is not the same engine but for reference it may help you feel good about your 52.  I have a Magnum 61 four stroke and it does 10000 with a MA 12x6 Scimitar and 10500 with a MA 10x7 three blade on 15% nitro.</p>

Ithink the 52 can replace a 40 2stroke but not much more. Still, it has its positive attributes.

I agree. The 52 four stroke is barely the equivalent to a ball bearing 40 two stroke. The 61 four stroke I have is barely the equivalent to a Thunder Tiger 46 pro. My61 is actually in long term storage, its to heavy for 30 sized planes and it just barely gets the job done on 40 size planes. I like the 70 four strokes a lot better on 40 size planes.
