Default AnyLink vs AnyLink 2

I just purchased an Any Link from my LHS and noticed it is the original Any Link and not the Any Link 2. My intention was to use this on my Hitec Optic 6 transmitter for not only the TX-R park/indoor flyers, but to also convert all of my sport and combat flyers to 2.4. If I am reading correctly the original Any Link is not suitable for anything but the indoor / park flyer type aircraft. If I want full range I need the Any Link 2.

Is this correct?

You are correct. The original AnyLink module is good for about 1,000 feet of range.
