Default Must have upgrades for the Blackfoot

I just bought a brand new Blackfoot re-release. Very excited I've wanted one since I was a kid in the 80s.
So, now that it's coming in a week, I'm ready to paint it. And I wanted to ask, what are the most important things to upgrade on this?

I've heard of the MIP ball diff, but I don't want to throw $80 at it, this early....maybe early on.

Does this need ball bearings? any thing else that people feel are necessary?
thanks
Andy

If it did not come with bearings (I'm pretty sure it doesn't), those would definitely be the first thing on the list to purchase. I know the manual doesn't say/show it, but I think I would put a tiny bit of medium thread lock on the universal joint grub screw, and just snug it down, and let the thread lock dry/cure for a good 24 hours. There was a Blackfoot thread I was following awhile back, and the guy had a "clicking" issue from the diff. A few shims later, and it was fixed. Just keep an eye on the universal joint grub screw, and you should be good if you are not putting massive amounts of power through the tranny.

Thank you for the ball bearings suggestion. Just purchased them.

Now on to a question:
1. the thread lock, looks like something I get, a tube of lube-y for a few bucks. I'll slap that on the universal joint grub screw. (I'll have to look for a picture of it so I don't get the wrong part) But about this clicking/shims thing, assuming I can hear it, is there something I should do?

Re-release Blackfoot doesn't ball bearing because i've bought one, all stock like the old blackfoot except it comes with ESC (brushed/brushless compatible), with traditional orbital gear diff, non-ford replica grill. no ford embossed at the back or front and fictional sponsor branding on its decal/sticker sheet. Yes the stock diff have random clicking sound but oddly my re-re monster bettle doesn't have it.

Here's mine in action:

I thought about picking one up but I still run the old one lol. Love the CRV chassis, have the Bush Devil, Blackfoot, Subaru Brat, Frog, Monster Beetle, I think that's it.
